I’ve known for a long time his name should be spelled ‘Yuu’, but I got in the habit of writing it the “official” way because I hadn’t seen his name written in katakana until after. Yay for breaking bad habits?

Both Yuu and Yu are acceptable romanizations of his first name, actually. So you weren't doing it wrong. (Just letting you know. XD)
