Once more with feeling

Hey guys, I thought I'd post this because I don't know about you but it seems terribly familiar to me ¬.¬

It wouldn't be so bad if it weren't, note for note, the same song!

IDKKK it's obvious it's the same tune but artists today have been ripping melodies for ages, often without credit. The only person I've really seen to give a little 'featuring' notice outright in the title is Kanye West for featuring Daft Punk which is saying something.

Obviously I don't like it the circumsatnce and it's a typical "I broke up with my girlfriend and I miss herrr" song. And if he has really stolen it without credit he's obvious he's going to get told for it. I have had friends in the rather vast Japanese music industry up to their necks in work because of copyright issues and the Japanese lawyers springing like a pack of dogs. I don't think he's going to get away with it.

And, uh, I hope he's ready for angry fans? It's what he seems to be getting.

It's... unexpected, to say the least.

So everyone go tell the makers what they can go do with their theft:

Facebook group they have too

From what I could find there was no crediting, so Mario Devon seems to have, indeed, blatantly stolen the melody. And that just can't be accepted. I really hope something will be done. -_-

But, for example, the song "We Run This" by Missy Elliot doesn't credit The Sugarhill Gang anywhere but she's obviously used the melody of 'Apache' and rapped over it. Both are well known songs and she obviously got permission to use it. He might have gotten permission to use it, though I doubt it because he's such a new artist.

I don't think you have to worry. It probably won't go unnoticed and if something isn't done I think the fandom is big enough to organise some sort of letter to one of the studios. I'm not sure which it would be though out of the many involved in the production process.

[identity profile] tossino.livejournal.com 2010-04-15 06:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Well there was this video where he talked about the song and I think that if he was allowed to use it he should've credited it there but... meh, I dunno. For me it just seems pretty obvious to do so. :V

I'm not really worrying. xD I have other things to worry about lol. I do believe in the fandom~~ And justice!

...yeah.

That's messed up. It's sad when artists are so desperate they steal other peoples work. It makes me so upset with how common this is too. I just don't understand how they can do it without feeling like the cheats they are. -shakes head-

[identity profile] hassle-nil.livejournal.com 2010-04-16 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
shit! it's so annoying

/de-lurks
Is-is it bad I imagined Allen singing that and that it amused me?

[identity profile] saxon-jesus.livejournal.com 2010-04-16 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
The music in it is really pretty, like, even on top of Tsunaida te ni Kissu wo, but I wasn't listening to the lyrics. Good musicality, good adaptation. I don't usually listen to lyrics because they're usually shit.

That said, I can get on to the second part of my agenda: wtf. Seriously. As if artists don't have enough problems getting money already, you're going to cheat another one? >_< Douchebag.

You see that angry Allen-kun icon I've got? Yeah, he's mad.

[identity profile] staticraven.livejournal.com 2010-04-16 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
If it is, then I'm horrible.

[identity profile] happymarionette.livejournal.com 2010-04-16 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
Well if it is we can be horrible together?
So far you're the only one I've seen have such a reaction to it.

[identity profile] staticraven.livejournal.com 2010-04-16 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
Sounds like a plan.

I'm not particularly bothered or anything because I know something will be done about it.

[identity profile] happymarionette.livejournal.com 2010-04-16 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
Now I won't be alone in being horrible! Score!

Yeah I thought so, everyone seemed pretty quick to jump up and do something about it.

Oh, that's pretty. <3

And of course, since it was posted in '06, it was created well before any songs composed for DGM....

Looks like the video linked by the OP's been removed.
