Though this chapter brings up a question in my mind since we now have Johnny having chats with the Earl - DOES ANYONE LIKE JOHNNY?

Well, can't say I'm a fan exactly, but I certainly dont hate him.
Ever since that mess with the order being invaded and Tapp's fate, he seems to be trying to be a better person (i.e. relying less on Allen, working harder), so I can admire him for that.

Plus, it takes some nerve to strike up a conversation with Earl.

I'm not necessarily a huge fan of him, but I do like him! He's a good worker, loves his friends, and he's pretty adorable. :D Also, I agree with eriu11 on the whole Earl conversation thing. That takes some guts.

Yeah, those sounds like some fair points! Mostly I was just curious since most people I know that know DGM are either indifferent or have a hatred for Johnny, especially since he seems to be appearing more and more in the manga.

It was an interesting question. And, yeah, I've seen all that hate running around.
Personally I can't understand it. Maybe it's because he was originally a comic relief/side character and people don't like that he's getting a bigger role? *shrugs* Who knows?

I'm a Johnny fan. I've always liked Johnny. He's that overlooked, sideline character that represents all the hopes and horrors of normal people and has lots of spunk and optimism despite his apparent hopelessness. (That's what I loved in Matsuda the whole time before he manned up and fucking shot Light. 8D;) Johnny is a good kid and I think that Hoshino-sensei has been very insightful to allow the POV of regular humans back into the narrative. It adds to the overall dynamic of the story. :)
