Contests~

I was contemplating having a few contests for this community. Firstly, a banner contest is in order, for the main banner above the community! I'm gonna be organizing that soon, but had been busy/sick/etc. otherwise I would have done it sooner. XD

Also possible: fic and art ones, or at least, some kind of weekly/monthly kind of challenge? Just something to garner interest and have some more fun with the fandom... do you guys have any ideas or anything you'd like to see?

Fic contests would be absolutely amazing. ♥ You know how I love my challenges and writing~ Perhaps some icontests and such, as well~?

Fic contests sound amazing. Monthly seems... mostly reasonable? Though once-in-a-while seems better. Regular events lose some of the "SHINY!! *__*" effect that random ones get.

weekly seems a bit too often, which would only result in things being too rushed. Some people (aka yours truly) don't even check LJ more than once a week sometimes. Bi-weekly or monthly might be a good idea.

something like an ultimate crack pairing contest, followed by a writing/art contest for said pairing could be potentially interesting. People tend to be more defensive about "OTP"s and no one will ever agree, but with a crack pairing contest there'd be much less stress and haggle involved. (And more cheer!) Users could suggest the most unlikely and outlandish pairings and then vote for the craziest pair, and then it would be a challenge indeed to write about crackfilled goodness....hohohoho.

I think monthly challenges would be best. Fortnightly is still a bit too frequent, IMO. Besides, DGray is an on-going series. For series which have ended, fortnightly events would be good.

I was thinking something along the lines of a very general theme that anyone could write whatever pairing they cared for, sort of like those writing communities which post a prompt every few weeks or so. So no one is stuck writing what they don't want to write.

To agree with everyone else, monthly sounds good. I'd also like to push for art challenges as well as the fic ones everyone seems to want. Drawing is fun, and we get some great stuff out of the dgm community.

Challenges sound cool! I think a monthly challenge would work best, and I favor art challenges in particular, although fic challenges would be good too.
