Fanfic snippet

A fanfic idea just pop up in my head, and here it is. Spoilers for "her" role in the series, and chapter 145. Should be short.

It was the longest rest she ever had. That fight sure took a lot out of her. But, when she suddenly lost her link with him, she knew that another greater threat had arrived. Within her chamber, she didn't bother to hide her anxiety. The seal was too strong for her to breach, and she knew it.

When it was broken, she rejoiced, but only for a short while. He was not out of danger. She sensed immense evil coming from his location, and she could do nothing to help.

"Lousy guardian," she mocked.

As the battle raged on, her attention never left him. She smiled as he battled on with his comrades. That spirit of his never fades. She liked to think of it as a result of her training when he was little.

Then, just when she thought all was well....

She lost the link again.

"No...no way," she said nervously. But, she knew what have happened. It's a different feeling from the first loss. This time, it wasn't a barrier between them.

He was dead.

Even if he wasn't, he would be so weak that he wouldn't survive long enough to be treated, not with the chaos outside. The evil which she sensed seemed to intensify. It threatened to swallow the last bit of light coming from another man,. Yes, that's what he is. Although physically, he's nothing more than a boy, to her, he was a gutsy man, just like....

She has rested enough. Her blades appeared on her arms. Although she would more likely be a hinderance, she knew that she had to be there.

"Hold on there, Walker," she whispered. As she remembered the other man, she wished that she was human, so that she would at least be able to shed a tear for him. All those times where they bickered, and how she abused him in every way imaginable....

All that would never come again. As she now realised, her existence is meaningless without him. Working herself to a frenzy, she dashed out of her chambers, and resolved never to return. Her place was with him, and she will stand or fall by him.

Oh my. This was very sad. And well written.

But he can't be dead. I refuse to think so. :)
