Beta/Editing

Hey, fellow geeks. I've noted two things: 1) Lots of community ads, and 2) lots of unbeta'd fics. Between those phenomena, I thought it might be okay to say, "I read all the fics anyway, and I'm kind of a punk about grammar, spelling, punctuation and canon. So let me know if you need me to beta for you."

So I am. :) Go ahead and bahleet this if that sort of thing isn't allowed.

(Um, just DGM though, please. I don't fangirl anything else enough to care, or to know enough background to question idiosyncrasies. Okay, maybe Fullmetal.)

1. A link back to my LJ is nice.

2. When you send me a story or chapter, e-mail me and attach it as an attachment, and point out in the subject line that it's a fanfic for beta-reading, so I don't delete it. e.g., if the subject line is "HI!" I won't bother. I'm at cattheterrible@gmail.com

3. Highest rating is nonexistant. I'm 24 and could care less, really. All pairings are well and good.

4. I also don't care about genre, but be warned, I think AU is usually stupid. (I mean, it's all good if it's AU like, say, "Canon ends after ep. so-and-so, because something pivotal changes and the plot goes pear-shaped." That's fine. Now, if I'm sent a fic where all the characters are the opposite sex with utterly different personalities in a rock band going through high school drama in America, and I fix your grammar and spelling but don't comment on the plot much, well, that's why). Not that I hate crack or anything.

Thank you for the information, I may pass it over to a friend of mine that needs a beta, but for my fanfictions, which for the most part are crackfics and AU, you do not suit me as a beta, nor I you as a writer. Thank you anyway, I appreciate your time.

Shiny! I might have to prod you once I get off my ass to write/re-write some DGM fanfics I have swimming about in my head and on my hard drive. Haha.
