I read/saw a totally different DGM chapter at Manga Fox and the title of the chapter is "Chapter 0: Zone (Pilot Chapter)".

What does this mean?

Zone was sort of the pilot (test) for D.Gray-man. It was a series Hoshino started (Allen's character was female in this) but pretty much.... major flop. ^^

Lol yeah. ZONE was a manga that Hoshino wrote that has a somewhat similar storyline and main character. They're NOT the same thing, but you can kinda tell where D.Gray-man came from if you read it.

ZONE is a one-shot created by Hoshino for Shounen Jump; it is a precursor to D.Gray-man. ^^

Personally, I'd like to see the Bookmen manga Hoshino worked on but didn't officially launch. I'd be very interested in seeing what the original concept of Lavi was.
