Kanda's dress

Hello, I wonder if this robe that Kanda wears has any specific name:

LOL First thing that came to my mind was "cheongsam" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mandarin_dress), but I gues the name actually depends on whether it's the Mandarin or the Cantonese term you're using.

For Male: changshan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Changshan) (accdg. to Wiki. XP)

*has cheongsam for school uniform* Yes, that's the word, either Changshan or cheongsam.

And I still think it's weird to call what Kanda's wearing a dress, even when it does look like one...

Oh gosh, it's not a dress! It's more of a Chinese robe, if you don't take the literal translation. (at least, that's what most people say as well).

As said, it's called Changshan, which literally means long shirt.

Cheongsam is not the correct term to use, technically, because cheongsam refers to the female garment. Cheongsam is actually an English name for the clothes =x Although pronouncing it in Cantonese is the same, the spelling is somewhat different.

Like the others said, it's a changshan. I usually recommend people to translate it as a 'Chinese tunic' worn by men.

For the women's cheongsam, you can call it a 'China dress' as most English-speakers would understand that.

Isn't it the same (although bigger) as the one he used when he was turned into a child back during the HQ move? But that time Kanda borrowed Bookman's.
Maybe he decided that he likes it? :D

That is the first thing I thought when I saw it!

Either that, or Hoshino just likes drawing him in that lol.
