[Fic] When Kanda Smiles

Character(s): Kanda, Lavi, Allen (High School AU...drabble) 
Rating: T (for Language) 
A/N: Possibly the closest thing to crack/parody/humor (that actually makes sense) that I will ever get. Really. Also seeing 'official' pictures of Kanda smiling doesn't do good things to my brain...(and *gasp* is this my first post on here? I think it is?!) 
Warning: mild language, running with sharp objects, and Allen teasing. Other than that it's relatively harmless

Kanda smiles for the first time, and Lavi's pretty sure he's choking. Or almost there, anyway. Allen's already too far gone, next to him, eyes bulging, food caught in his throat, and it's almost funny except for it isn't. Kanda smiling was never a good thing. Maybe he finally snapped? Lavi couldn't be sure.

But he was smiling, dammit, and that never happened.

"Oi, Y-Yuu-chan," the stutter is appropriate, or so he thinks, as he backs up slightly from the man, to glance up at him, "Wh-what's up? You kill anything today?" 

The smile twitches, and almost fades, but doesn't entirely because it's still there under the Bookman's watchful eye, "Tch, no." 

"Th-then?" 

"You got laid?" Both boy's turn to Allen, and the white haired teen shrugs, "What? I had to ask." 

And the blush that crosses the older man's cheeks is almost hilarious if the blade wasn't pointed so close to his face, "Like you would know." The man hissed.

Now Allen feels threatened, and Lavi even moreso, "What? Who's the lucky chick?" But he doesn't back down. Never had before, never saw a reason to, "Or are you even into that?" Silver eyes flash to Lavi and--Oh nonono he wasn't going to drag him into this--and Lavi catapults off his seat to standing, and grabs his half eaten lunch.

The sharp end of the blade comes crashing down, and Lavi vaguely wonders how Kanda even smuggled that thing into school (under the pretense of It's for club not that he'd really leave it in there and--) 

Lavi just hopes he doesn't get an obscene message later.

But he knows he will, as he dashes out of the mess hall, with Allen close on his heels, and Kanda after the both of them--

"It was just a joke dammit!" 

And maybe Lavi understood a little, now, why the man never smiled. It wasn't a big understanding, or little, and it never accompanied the shout of: "Stop following me dammit!" and the practical inhilation of food--

Or the Matron shouting at them to stop running with food in their mouth as they ran by the nurses office, and the fact they nearly ran into Miss Lotto talking shyly to Mr. Marie about something (he felt bad about that, a little bit) 

But once they slipped out the front door he knew it was all going to hell.

That was it. That was it.

When Kanda smiles, the world goes to hell.

Glad you liked it XD *usually sucks at short things* but this hit me last night and it refused to leave me alone. So there ya go.

Yes poor Lavi, the one time he intentionally tries to stay out of it and Allen drags him in. XD

Yeah, they're much easier to handle *nod* (not to mention you can definitely flush them out more, and not have to worry about restrictions or being concise. *though half the time her oneshots end up being well into the 20-page range* aha...ha..*cough*

Yup. Allen loves to start things. Oh yes. Maybe Kanda's easily goaded? Who knows~

Well that's half the fun of it~ *thinking of doing more drabbles* (but only as they come *can't forced drabbles* also helps if I write them on a journal so I don't look at page length...)

True enough~ I've actually got a KanRina fic that's not done yet. I keep meaning to work on it but never do. (Really? I usually have more to work with if I can type them out instead of writing them O:)

Well I learned from my Creative Writing class that a 'short' story (oneshot) is basically between 10 and 20 pages. So that's generally what I TRY to go by.

Yessss...very much so XD Dear Kanda has such big berserk buttons~ They must be brightly colored too~ (for Lavi to want to push 'em so often XD *their friendship is funnnn*)

Oh really? I've been reading a few fics for that pairing recently (mostly on the kink meme *seeing as there aren't many anywhere else*) Link? (and I meant Journal as in...a LiveJournal Journal. I can't write stuff down on paper. I lose it. and if it's in a notebook--I lose the entire notebook XD)

Oh, no, no *laugh* you obviously have never been to the D. Gray Man Kink meme, because everything is requested for on there. I have a friend who just filled out a Kanda x Lenalee fic on there too...though yes, it's kinky so if you dislike that sort of thing then stay away (unless you get me to fill it out. Then there's a crapload of plot XD *can't help it* I dislike those kinds of scenes anyway _{which thus makes me sound like a hypocrite if you've seen what I've filled out *COUGH*}

Yeah. Now I'd go to say 'you can't fit anything decent in 5 pages' but...obviously, some good drabble writers can (it's like when it's an actual CHAPTER that it's annoying)

Nope I don't think they have a separate one. But yeah I like it nice and fluffy (if anything) first and foremost. Though there are some well written fics on there...

Oh yes you can. (I agree with you there) you can fit a good story into 5 or less pages. I have. I wrote a colab with this one girl and it turned out to be about that.

I don't mind reading about sex, but it's when it's anime characters that it bothers me for some reason. e_o I'm weird like that.

My girlfriend's fit awesomeness in two pages. In perfect English, and it isn't even her native language. So yeah it's definitely possible as long as you do the phrasing right *nod*

it bothers me depending on who the character's are. But then I've pretty much gotten over that *shrugs* (it's when it's actual...fanfics about movies--about real life people that it gets gross for me. I mean...*shivers* they're actual people...so you're basically almost kinda sorta forcing 'em into sex with another real-life person...because you wanna see it. Whereas these character's are completely fictional. They're only drawn....and yeah...)

Cool. Perfect English ffff. I find it embarrassing it's our native language and we can't even speak it right. With the right phrasing pretty much any writing can look good.

It just bothers me in general. I don't care about like fictional characters you can't see because they weren't made by someone else. It feels forced that way to me.

Well...she scored a 117 out of 120 on an English Exam (think our SAT) and because of it they refused to let her go to a bilingual school *she's in Canada now for schooling, but yeah, it IS really sad when you see people not use the language correctly (and it's their first) but I'm more lenient on that just because of my older sister *who has severe issues with it* basically if they have bad grammar/etc intentionally, but can speak to you in 'perfect english' then it gets annoying. But then there're so many variables to it that *shrugs*

and...the way you phrased that is confusing. 'they weren't made by someone else' so you're talking about your own fictional characters then? *since that means you own them* or do you mean that you SHOULD own them before it feels slightly less forced? *blinks* But I'm not a big lemon/sex fan in general. it just depends on the mood I'm in, and there has to be plot above all else, like I said before. *shrugs*

Really...? because that could also go for making two character's fall in love that aren't in love in the series *shrugs* you go by the basic concept of their personality (would they fit? would they really do this?). Though obviously that leaves a lot up for grabs, and can lead to pairing wars and a bunch of other stuff to put in mind, but I don't think that ever stopped anyone...
