Cosplay Help?

Is this allowed...?

I'm one of those people that get all the parts to an outfit (wig, shoes, belts, etc) before making the most important part (outfit itself)..so here I am with a bunch of stuff, a lack of time, and a desire for Miranda's first outfit. There's no way I can pull off making it so I was wondering if anyone knew any good sites where I could purchase an outfit similar to her own that doesn't cost a whole lot of monies.

Thaaanks <3

Best places to look are charity shops and carboot/jumble sales (....or for Americans, thiftstores and yard sales :P) ...sometimes Ebay can come in handy too. I dont have the time or money to make every outfit from scratch, so i get a base (ie. A jacket) and alter it to suit the costume (chop it up, add decoration and details, fastenings etc) it usually works quite well ^_^

lol, i didnt mean an ebay bought costume (though sometimes they look cool, if you get the right seller). I meant using it like a thriftstore, to see if you can find a similar looking (real) dress to modify for cosplay.

Exactly what is your budget? While there're a few companies out there that offer similar dresses, twenty minutes with Google shows me that most reproduction Victorian clothing is expensive. I've had no luck finding an exact match to Miranda's dress, either... this (http://recollections.biz/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=R&Product_Code=41008&Category_Code=Victorian) is as close as I've found, and it's A)$150 US and B)lacks the "bib" hers has on the bodice and may or may not have entirely the wrong waistline and sleeves.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help!
