Beyond the Sky Doujin Translation
I just translated Beyond the Sky's "Sono Subete," posted by
strike_kun here, into English.
Cover
All of It.
p. 1
Narration: It only takes a fleeting moment to distort the precious days.
p. 2
Miranda: Wow!
I never knew there was a courtyard like this inside the Order. It’s like a miniature garden.
Lavi: A miniature garden…
Say, the old man used to have one of those. But…
p. 3
Narration: But it was certainly—
Miranda: Lavi-kun
[ha – slight gasp]
Lavi: Ah, what?
Miranda: Look, there’s a sandbox. Did you used to play in these when you were little?
p. 4
Miranda: Look, if you make a mountain like this and put a stick in it, the sand around it will gradually erode away.
Lavi: If it is
Then in the end—
Miranda: Eh?
Lavi: Hey, old man.
p. 5
Lavi: Old maaan.
Bookman: I’ve told you to call me “Bookman.” What?
Lavi: This.
This miniature garden.
Why isn’t there anything in it?
Bookman: That should be obvious.
p. 6
Bookman: Because it’s unnecessary. That’s why there’s nothing there from the beginning.
Do you understand? This is how our hearts must be.
Keep nothing there.
And all the more
p. 7
Lavi: Trying to take something with your own hands
Miranda: Lavi-kun?
Lavi: Is something you must never desire.
Ah…
Even should you desire it
That desire will never be granted.
Sorry.
p. 8
Preface
Hello. I’m Saezuki Yuto. It’s LaviMiranda again. It’s a serious story again. I apologize. I’m the only one enjoying myself.
Umm.
I’m so tired, I can’t write.
Umm.
It’s a twisted love, but I hope it comes through at least in part.
Umm.
I love LaviMiranda.
Oh! Sachi-san, thanks for helping me with the tones and so much more!
p. 9
Miranda: U-um…
Lavi: Sneaking off to someone’s bedroom? Ooh.
Miranda: Hiii! N-n-n-no!
p. 10
Lavi: Here.
Miranda: Oh, thank you.
Lavi: Could it be…
So, did you have something to talk about?
About what happened recently, perhaps?
Miranda: You know
p. 11
Miranda: I’ve been having a strange dreams recently.
Lavi: …Huh?
Dreams?
Miranda: Yes, dreams.
And it’s always the same dream.
I’m riding on a train, and on the way I get off at a pure-white station.
It really is pure white—there’s nothing there.
There was a girl there.
p. 12
Miranda: The girl said that she lost something important there, and came back.
But she’s forgotten what she’s lost, she says.
So she just keeps standing there.
…And I find it unbearably sad.
That’s when I always wake up, and it’s over.
p. 13
Lavi: …I have to say…that is a strange dream. All I can say.
Note by Lavi’s Head: Anticlimactic
Miranda: Haha. It is, isn’t it. I’m sorry.
I’ve seen it so very many times that I wanted to tell someone, and get it off my chest.
Lavi: …That girl in the dream. Do you know her?
p. 14
Miranda: Eh?
Lavi: Do you recognize the station? Could you really not see anything?
Miranda: Nothing.
…Ah, because everyth-thing
Was white.
Lavi: Oh.
p. 15
Miranda: He gave me an opening, but in the end I could say it.
Narration: I know.
That dream is my anxiety itself.
p. 16
That’s why I couldn’t say it.
That the girl just standing there
Was myself, not far in the future.
p. 17
That the name of that pure-white station
Was “memories.”
p. 18
I’m frightened, Lavi-kun.
It feels as if I speak it, it will become true.
p. 19
Postscript
One more story, and this doujin ends. I’ll be happy if you keep reading.
The two of them seem so full of anxieties that nothing can be done, but I like how they keep struggling despite this.
Now then, as long as you’re willing, I’ll see you again someday.

p. 20
Lavi: You all right?
[ha, ha – Miranda breathing]
Miranda: I’m fine now?
p. 21
Lavi: Hey, when we get back
Can I sleep with you?
Miranda: Eh
Eeeeeeeh!?
Lavi: Oh, I guess you have enough blood to turn your face that red.
I was worried because you were so pale.
Miranda: Please stop saying those jokes.
Lavi: Haha Sorry, sorry.
p. 22
Lavi: …But think about it a little, you know?
While we’re so worn out, then without thinking about anything else…
Only
Thinking of you.
Lavi: Nah, just kidding. This kinda talk is irresponsible.
Sorry. Forget what I just said.
p. 23
Miranda: …No.
I won’t forget.
It’s fine.
Just once
p. 24
Miranda: Let’s go home.
Even for an instant
Please
Make me think that’s the whole of the world.
p. 25
All of it.
I don't mind if anyone uses or reposts my translation, as long as you credit me (as Kumori/
symbolism_egg.
I've also translated a few of the Noah Clan stories from the anthology recently posted by
chidorita, but I'm going to wait until I've translated more to post them. (Time permitting.)
