Question - Spoiler for 198th

Ya!

I can't seem to sit still after reading the recent chapter - episode 198th. This question has been nagging me for a few weeks, so I decide to ask:

Question - Is there a possibility that Yuu also saw the soul from Alma?

As for why I ask this question it's because of Allen's left eye.

Well, when Allen first got the eye from Mana, he's able to see the souls from the Akumas. Then when his eye 'upgraded' in Krory's episodes, Lavi (and anyone else too) also able to see the same thing.

Now Allen's eye has 'upgraded' again, so do you think Yuu able to see 'that person' too?

Many thanks X3

It seems to be the reigning theory. :>

It would make sense to me that he did... Because thats some BIG plot hole, otherwise.

Also, icon love!

It's one of my big annoyances at the moment, yeah, how Hoshino seems to have forgotten that function after the Krory Intro arc. If it showed up in the next chapter, I would be QUITE pleased.

So, it wasn't shown YET, but that doesn't mean it WON'T be. Since 198 was told almost all from Allen's perspective...

((Oh, the other plot hole that's bothering me at the moment is WHERE DID ALMA'S INNOCENCE GO DAMNIT.))

It doesn't seem to me that the eye has upgraded again, though. *shrugs*

Really? I haven't seen it pop up among any of the places I watch other than my own impressions entry. Of course, I only really look at LJ for fandom things anymore...

[identity profile] attaining.livejournal.com 2010-09-17 05:07 am (UTC)(link)
I've seen it in forums and just about everyone I've talked to went there. Maybe less people went there than I thought?

[identity profile] starcrossed-sky.livejournal.com 2010-09-17 05:11 am (UTC)(link)
I don't go on forums much anymore. At least, not fandom-specific forums. (Probably why I'm willing to talk the subject to DEATH on LJ, haha.) Most of the people I regularly talk fandom with are much the same way, so... These days I mostly stick to IMs and GaiaOnline's RP forums.

Well, at least I can claim to have the original idea in my corner of the fandom? XDD

I also believe that is the case. Otherwise, it won't be as much fun. Good thing Allen's eye has that ability!

um...alma had innocence in the first place...? we never saw him use one...just him and kanda beating each other up like crazy...kanda didn't have mugen back then either....and if alma had innocence, wouldn't he have turned into a Fallen one by now? @_@

[identity profile] xdark-faex.livejournal.com 2010-09-17 09:18 am (UTC)(link)
Alma must have had innocence. Whether he was bonded with it is another matter....he has to have it because he is an exorcist; only dying/dead exorcists were used in this particular experiment which means his brain and soul are innocence compatible. Not to mention that the point of the experiment was to create new exorcists.

I always thought that his innocence was parasitic arm blades, because that's what he was using to kill people....he was saying that HE felt like an akuma/demon because he couldn't die, his body just kept going though it should have died, not that the blades were from his Akuma cells.

[identity profile] xdark-faex.livejournal.com 2010-09-17 09:22 am (UTC)(link)
yeah, i was thinking that.

Beside's the original 'hey everyone! I see dead people!' upgrade i thought was a one off, that once Allen learnt to control it, no one else saw the akuma-souls because he wouldn't want them to?

[identity profile] apapazukamori.livejournal.com 2010-09-17 12:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think Allen's eye "upgraded". All that happened was that Timcanpy broke the barrier that kept the Allen from using his eye. That also happened during Timothy's arc. Now that the barrier broke, Allen was able to see akuma as usual.

As far as projecting the soul for everyone to see, it doesn't look like that happened, either. As far as we know, that's only happened once, after Allen recommitted to the curse. It seemed like he probably had something like a power surge and once it faded, no one but Allen was able to see the akuma's souls.

the thing with allens eye making it able for other people to see the akuma souls happend before
when lavi and he were at crowley's
so i guess since his eye saved him from becoming a noah it had the same effect again

I was under the impression that he and Kanda were being experimented on in order to force synchronization; like what Lenalee saw happening at the Order in (roughly) the same time frame as when Kanda and Alma were at the East Asia Branch. The synchronization kept failing, but because they were able to regenerate, the scientists could keep trying new methods.

Eventually, it seems they were able to synchronize with the Innocence, since Alma uses it when he flips his shit (the winged thing is, presumably, Innocence), Kanda does as well (and maybe that Innocence is what is turned into Mugen? Given how it behaved in the last few chapters when Kanda was going all purple-haired).

It would behoove Hoshino to explain Fallens a little more, or how they manifest, since Suman was a parasitic-type. Maybe Falling looks different when the conformer is an equipment type? Lenalee mentions the failed forced-synchronizing subjects becoming Fallen, but we don't know what, exactly, the experiments involved.

Allen's eye has evolved more than 3 times in the manga. It's more than possible for Kanda to have seen Alma's soul. We'll know for sure if he's seen it or not in the next chapter, if Alma doesn't blow himself up with Kanda first. Man I sure hope that Nea will intervene and prevent him from doing that...

[identity profile] apapazukamori.livejournal.com 2010-09-17 05:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't remember the curse evolving after the incident at Krory's castle. Allen's Innocence has evolved, but the two aren't tied together.

Also, Allen pushed Neah back again. Plus, if Neah is the one who wants to destroy everything, there's really no reason for him to stop two humans from killing each other.

[identity profile] starcrossed-sky.livejournal.com 2010-09-17 06:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Uh, what manga are you reading? That weird thing on Alma's arm was the manifestation of his Innocence, the same way the sword little!Kanda had was the pure Innocence form of the Mugen. There's no reason to think Alma is no longer the accomdator of it, either, although I imagine that the Order removed it and has stored it with the rest of the Innocence, just in case Alma WOULD wake up and go beserk again. That might be giving them too much credit, though.

Took the words right from my mouth on both points.

[identity profile] mellmell.livejournal.com 2010-09-17 07:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I once heard that Allen can choose to show the soul to other people or not.
However, I have not seen anything that implies this in the manga. So maybe Kanda can see it, he just never looked up and noticed. Perhaps we just have to wait till the next chapter before we realize Kanda can see it.

[identity profile] pywen.livejournal.com 2010-09-18 07:54 pm (UTC)(link)
From the way I see it, Allen's curse has evolved (at least) 3 times. You can see the eye's changes here:

http://www.cloudmanga.com/D.Gray-Man/3/#13
http://www.cloudmanga.com/D.Gray-Man/36/#15
http://www.cloudmanga.com/D.Gray-Man/82/#6 (if you look closely, the smaller lentil we see in the precedent link is absent and Allen's eye got a slit instead of its usual iris. I'm not sure if it evolved/got sharper there, but there's the possibility of it.)
http://www.cloudmanga.com/D.Gray-Man/145/#13 (now it's up to two round red rings around his pupil... Again, the possibility that Allen's left eye got sharper, which means evolved again, is probable.)
http://www.cloudmanga.com/D.Gray-Man/187/#28 (here the two lentils are absent... I think that Allen needs to have evolved his eye another time to have the ability to hide his two lentils completely, and not just supress the option of the others seeing the akuma's souls like after Krory's castle.)
And finally, we have the recent evolution of his curse in this page:
http://www.cloudmanga.com/D.Gray-Man/198/#26

If after all these images there is truly no possibility that Allen's eye could have evolved more than 3 times, then I'm sorry for the apparent confusion I may have spread among the members and I'll never bring this up again. >_>

For Neah's case with Alma, that was me secretly hoping it would turn out like that (blame my new love for the mad Noah and his handsome sexiness). If Neah doesn't see any reason to intervene, I'm almost sure that Allen will try with all his might to keep Alma from self-destructing. Allen can already control Neah's ark and gates without needeing the Noah to be in full control of his body and mind, so it's also probable that in the future he could start ordering akumas too, since technically he's part Noah and, last I knew, Akuma must obey to the Noahs and the Earl.

if Kanda saw Alma's soul he would've probably said something different from "Beansprout..?"
