question: location of the Black Order HQ
Hiya, everyone.
Brand new fan here. I got done watching the anime yesterday and going from there I'm about to write fic.
And hit a snag I'm not willing to ignore, so I'll have to ask. (I did check previous discussions and questions, but couldn't find it mentioned yet.)
So, I'd like to ask if it is ever mentioned or it is known where the Black Order headquarters is. I've seen someone say it's in France, but they didn't seem sure, so I was wondering if I could get confirmation for that. And also for Central Administration being in the Vatican?
Help with this would be much appreciated.
Thank you. ^_^

There are different branches (ie: Asia, America). But the familiar oHQ, I can't seem to remember? Italy? ><
Current HQ, 2nd, is in London (after lv 4 attack).

Since the Vatican is sort of in Italy (geographically speaking) that should be correct. Also everything I googled seemed to point to that.

The manga, I don't think it says. Allen starts out in London, this we know for sure, so I always assumed first headquarters was also around there somewhere. But the chapter after that, he's still on his way and runs into a kid named Jean, so I suppose that's where the animators got the France thing from? Pretty tenuous if you ask me.
In fics I've seen England, Scotland, France, as well as delicately-dancing-around-the-issue. Fell free to pick and chose, as long as it's not too outlandish I don't think your readers will mind.

Hm, I think I will go with France for now. Quite honestly, it's convenient for my fic so why not.

It never says in the manga. I only watched maybe half of the anime, so I don't remember the French references. I think it's safe to assume it's somewhere in Europe, but other than that? They never really say. Like mentioned above, you can use the anime's hint if you want to, but really, do whatever you like! One benefits of having location vagueness :D
Central I would assume is in the Vatican, but then again, it might be in some secret volcano lair.

Mainly because Allen is not shown in the preceeding chapters to move from another country. In the first chapters the style of housing is Tudor - quintessentially English. I am talking about the third or so chapter in to the manga when he's walking along the streets with Jean? John? I can't remember the kids name. But the tall white buildings with the black patterned woodwork? English. 150% sure. I encounter that style all the time in England. It's not a French style and so I'd rule that out entirely.
A weaker suggestion would also point to the entire cast conversing in English. During the period in which Hoshino sets her story English is a world language alongside French. Though I don't think Hoshino has looked that far in to it, or else I don't think she'd have set her catholic-themed tale in a Protestant country.
But anyway. Pretty positive it's set in England. The anime has French references but it also butchered Kanda's backstory and changed a lot of the character's personality and I would under no circumstances view it as canon evidence for them being in France.
...Having typed all that I looked at the back of my DGM volumes where the first line reads "set in a fictional 19th century England". So yeah, I was right, HQ is definitely in England.

Also, welcome to fandom ♥

Yeah, I think England is established now. Which does make sense with the first episode of the anime, as I remember now.

I googled Central and it seemed to be mentioned in the Vatican a lot and the anime at least mentioned the Vatican vaguely. So I'll probably go with that.

Did it? It's been so long since I've read those chapters I can't remember, but that sounds right. I remember them mentioning orders from the Pope and such, but the details I'm hazy on.
Well, good luck with your fic! May I ask what you're writing? *nosy*

Well, the fic follows on from the end of the anime (ep 103) when Cross leaves the destroyed old Order HQ to go to the conference at Central Administration. In the fic he gets intercepted on the way by the remaining Noah gets his innocence taken and gets taken by the Noah.
It's very Cross-centric with much hurt in the beginning and comfort towards the end, interspersed with plot and Noah. And of course the Exorcist crew will eventually make an appearance. :)

Oh Cross, I love him too much. I will totally read this, I hope you post it to the community here.

(Tbh, discussion about Cross on fandomsecrets was the whole reason I started watching DGM in the first place. But once I'd started I really loved the anime itself and the other characters as well.)

Haha! That's awesome. I liked the anime, especially near the end. I skipped some of the filler and was upset that there was so much (and that it ended in the BEST arc of the manga), but I really miss it.

Hm, after Cross, Kanda is my favourite. And I like the Noah, because they're weird and funny (Road, especially).
I did find some of the anime arcs a bit tedious to watch. Then again, I watched all because I didn't want to miss anything either. In the end, I liked some better than others and I guess that's normal.
I am SO gonna read the manga. Because... more Cross :D. I'll start but will probably finish my fic before I get to that point, because I don't much like my fics becoming to AU when they weren't intended. lol It kinda messes with the flow of my writing. lol
It's weird, too, but I haven't found my Cross x ... slash pairing yet. Normally I always find a slash pairing. I'd pair him with Kanda for the pretty, but I can't see them work at all. (Ignore if you#re not into slash. lol)

especially for Leecest angstthe most. And Allen, which is strange because usually I grow to hate the main characters. But I love everyone. There was a lot of filler in the anime, I think around like 20-30 episodes? Something crazy like that. Oh you should read the manga definitely, I won't spoil you, but yes :D I have a love hate relationship with it from all the hiatuses and now the monthly release thing. The story has dropped a bit in quality too IMO, but I have hope it will pick back up.
Heeee, it seems Tyki is a popular character he's slashed with. Komui too, although Komui lacks the bish factor to make it a pretty pair.

Actually, knowing only the anime, I had a first impulse of CrossxMana. Because I always figured there had to be some kind of connection. (another thing I hope to figure from the manga, because the anime ending confused me a bit on the whole Cross, Allen and 14th front).
In the end, there's not really anyone in the cast I totally dislike. Which makes me a happy bunny. :)

It gets more confusing, especially since Cross is a lying liar who lies; but my only acceptable theory is Cross is really God and will be the end boss, bitch slap the universe and hit the reset button, looking damn sexy while doing it... More likely of course, at the very least, he's more of a Xanatos than the Earl. Only time will tell!
no subject
But yeah. He's a lying liar who lies (that should be the new official term here) and it's very convenient for my fic as well.
no subject
lol he so is. Cross is a very fic-fun character. I love writing him.

The first one is in England and the Anime is just messing with us(not sure why Hoshino didn't put her foot down about that...) with all the Paris references.
