Name: Skyler Friending Contacts: I'm more active on plurk (unsymbolic) than anywhere else these days, and I'd be very much up for friend adding there. You can add me on DW (this journal), but I'm not as active on it as I'd like. I'm also not very active on tumblr, but if you want to follow me there (vikingland) I'll follow back. A bit about you: I'm old fogey a bit older than a lot of DGM fans I've met, but I'm not bothered by that if you're not. I'm an American expat living in London. I'm also an "acafan"--an academic who studies fandom as well as participates in it. I'll happily ramble on about my research to anyone who's interested. I think it's pretty fun stuff to do with queer cultural studies, history, and lots of poststructuralist theory as well as fandom, but I don't want to bore anyone if that's not their cuppa.
DGM interests: Oh geez. Well, I ship Kanda and Allen (in a very messy, complicated, non-loving/non-nurturing sort of way), though I'm not fussed about other people's shipping preferences. I suppose my interest is most captured by Kanda, Allen, and Lavi, though I also find Mana to be a fascinating character, little though we know about him. I actually rather like the direction the manga is heading these days, slow though it is. I guess a lot of people aren't so thrilled with the current direction or the art, so I'd love to get to know folks who do like what Hoshino's been giving us lately! DGM fandom activities: I wish I had time for fic writing, but alas. I do still manage to RP, despite having no time for a game. kandescence is my Kanda journal which has various ongoing storylines (some NC-17, all marked); I think they make pretty good reading, but then I'm obviously biased. If you don't mind slow tags, I'm up for all sorts of non-shippy/gen RP, if anyone happens to like what they see and wants to plot something out! Fandoms you're into besides DGM:DOGS: Bullets & Carnage, Hetalia (I find the series fascinating, though I'm not active in the fandom per se), Marvel cinematic (I've not had time for more than brief forays into reading the comics), Leverage, and all sorts of old stuff--M*A*S*H, 'Allo, 'Allo, all things Monty Python. (We don't get broadcast TV at my house, so we tend to pick up a series on DVD and watch it through a bit at a time. Currently we're doing a rewatch of X-Files.) Other hobbies and interests: Horses and dogs. Actually, I've not had much time for anything besides horses and dogs lately. I love history, especially histories of sexuality, but I find all kinds of material histories to be fascinating. Old buildings and secret architectures can hold my interest forever.
