D. Gray-man Friending Meme
I know this comm has been rather quiet, but I miss seeing life in the DGM fandom. I was thinking that it'd be good to get to know some more folks who are active in this fandom these days, maybe spur some fresh discussions, share theories, inspire new fanworks, or just make some new friends.
So to that end, a friending meme!
Just fill out the handy textbox:
Chat with people here, add them on other sites, spread the word and tell others that this meme is up!
And, of course, please play nice--if you strike up a conversation with someone and it turns out you don't click, there's no obligation to be buddies long term. But nothing ventured, nothing gained, so don't be bashful!

Friending Contacts: I'm more active on plurk (
A bit about you: I'm
old fogeya bit older than a lot of DGM fans I've met, but I'm not bothered by that if you're not. I'm an American expat living in London. I'm also an "acafan"--an academic who studies fandom as well as participates in it. I'll happily ramble on about my research to anyone who's interested. I think it's pretty fun stuff to do with queer cultural studies, history, and lots of poststructuralist theory as well as fandom, but I don't want to bore anyone if that's not their cuppa.DGM interests: Oh geez. Well, I ship Kanda and Allen (in a very messy, complicated, non-loving/non-nurturing sort of way), though I'm not fussed about other people's shipping preferences. I suppose my interest is most captured by Kanda, Allen, and Lavi, though I also find Mana to be a fascinating character, little though we know about him. I actually rather like the direction the manga is heading these days, slow though it is. I guess a lot of people aren't so thrilled with the current direction or the art, so I'd love to get to know folks who do like what Hoshino's been giving us lately!
DGM fandom activities: I wish I had time for fic writing, but alas. I do still manage to RP, despite having no time for a game.
Fandoms you're into besides DGM: DOGS: Bullets & Carnage, Hetalia (I find the series fascinating, though I'm not active in the fandom per se), Marvel cinematic (I've not had time for more than brief forays into reading the comics), Leverage, and all sorts of old stuff--M*A*S*H, 'Allo, 'Allo, all things Monty Python. (We don't get broadcast TV at my house, so we tend to pick up a series on DVD and watch it through a bit at a time. Currently we're doing a rewatch of X-Files.)
Other hobbies and interests: Horses and dogs. Actually, I've not had much time for anything besides horses and dogs lately. I love history, especially histories of sexuality, but I find all kinds of material histories to be fascinating. Old buildings and secret architectures can hold my interest forever.
Anything else?

BUT all that aside, friending! Yes, that is a thing that should happen; I shall add you as well! (I keep hoping that if I get to know more folks who are active on DW that it will inspire me to update more too. orz)

Anyway, added! :D Nice to meet you!

It's nice to meet you too! (Also, I just realized that I missed the granting access part--remedies that now.)

M*A*S*H always deserves more love! I don't know why there are so few fandomers who appreciate it. It's such a great show.
You should definitely snag the later seasons if you can! Ghost bought me a box set of the entire show a few x-masses ago
and then regretted it because we watched it for weeks./quietly slides over to plurk to add you, because we share both DGM and M*A*S*H love and this is clearly a sign

Friending Contacts: I’m most active on plurk,
A bit about you: I’ve been mod of
DGM interests: I tend to be drawn to what’s going on with Allen as a character, but I’ve also had a long-standing interest in Mana and his relation to the 14th, so all the recent stuff is making me very excited indeed and a buzz with theorising again. But, to be honest, I’m generally happy to ramble about just about anyone and everyone in the series because I don’t dislike anyone vehemently, and even if I did I still wouldn’t be opposed to discussion about them if the topic seems interesting :)
In terms of shipping, you’ll find me mainly sailing Kanda/Allen, but I’m not the type of person to get bent out of shape about who ships what, and again if the topic is interesting I’ll gladly engage with a discussion regardless of who is in the pairing. But overall shipping isn’t generally the focus of my discussions since I’m more likely to discuss characters with regards the setting and (pseudo) historical moment and the plot.
Generally, I like analysing this series a lot. I like talking about theories and characters in depth, I like alternative readings of things, I like seeing different takes on characters and events in the canon. I just like rambling about this fandom in general :’)
DGM fandom activities: Aside from quiet mod work (usually deleting spam and adding tags to posts), my main activity is DW roleplay. My main is Allen, but I do also play a 90% theory/headcanon Mana, and a Timcampy. All my accounts and things are here. I’m a very slow player these days because life is busy, but I’m happy to do (sloooow) PSLs and memes with people anytime, as long as it’s not heavily shipping-centric, but apart from that I’m happy to play all kinds of things from fluff to dark themes. I also drabble on occasion, but not on a regular basis. Mostly, I just RP and ramble through theories.
Fandoms you're into besides DGM: DOGS, Marvel (MCU, EMH, 616), Code Geass, Evangelion (original and Rebuild), Guild Wars 2, Ragnarok Online, Madoka Magica, FMA, and a bunch of other stuff here and there.
Other hobbies and interests: I’m pretty boring, really. I don’t have any crafty or arty talents, but I’m a big fan of dogs (pugs especially, oh my goodness!) and stingrays. I’m also an activist and politically active in various human rights-type things so it’s not uncommon to catch me talking on that vein, especially in relation to anti-austerity actions.
Anything else? Hmm... I dunno. Talk nerdy to me? I'm pretty chatty when time allows, so... Yeah. :) I'm just generally excited for a friending meme!

Friending Contacts: I am most frequently on plurk at
A bit about you: I am 21 years old and live on the West Coast up here in Canada. I got into the DGM fandom sometime in late 2008 and it's been my main fandom ever since then.
DGM interests: I have an enormous Lenalee bias, which becomes blatantly obvious whenever I put up icons/fanfic. My OTP was, once upon a time, Allen/Lenalee but since getting into RP, my shipping preferences have gone all over the map and I will essentially ship anything in the series given the right development. I'm really excited that we've finally begun to get into the 14th backstory! I miss seeing the minor characters around, but maaaan, we've been waiting for this forever.
DGM fandom activities: I used to write a lot of fic, but that's dwindled recently. Nowadays I focus more on colouring icons, because I roleplay an early canon Lenalee in a game as well as several alternate Lenalees in PSLs and memes, and I like to make my own icons. Sometimes, I also play Fou! My muselist can be found here, if anyone's interested.
Fandoms you're into besides DGM: Like I said above, DGM is my primary fandom and it kind of eats my brain, but I also follow Lost, Legend of Zelda, Madoka Magica, Nabari no Ou, Gurren Lagann, The World Ends With You, Durarara!! and Baccano!, and I just started Claymore a week or so ago.
Other hobbies and interests: Man, this is always the hardest question. I write short stories/fiction when I have free time, and bake a lot. I tend to put pictures of food I've made up on plurk to torment everyone. I like going on adventurous camping trips with my family. I read when I can, so I'm always up for book recommendations. What feels like every other week, I go through major gaming stints where I'll play GW2 and other games like a madwoman, so there is also that.
Anything else? I will return to this meme later in the day to chat it up with the rest of you! And yes, I am posting this from an RP account...

And did I run into you at Otakon last year?no subject
You wouldn't have run into me at Otakon, though, no. I haven't ever gone to a convention outside of Canada.

--But, YAY! ;_; I'm REALLY REALLY sorry for idling out. I can't focus. And then I get scared that I over-committed, and kept telling myself I'd go back, but never did. T_T I really liked RPing with you! OTL I'm super flattered you like my Reever, one day I'll write him again, maybe if I can get my head together at some point.
*friends you now* X)

Would it have been Otakon 2012?
Oh wait, duh. Last Otakon.
......... because yeah, I was Lenalee at Otakon 2012.
no subject
I never did friend you after that, I'm sorry! ;_;
no subject
NO OH GOSH DON'T BE SORRY. I came home from the con and had like a week to pack up before we moved from our apartment so it's really okay 8D 8D 8D
I'm totally adding you on plurk though!

Yay! :D

And don't worry about idling out, it's not a problem at all. I enjoyed RPing with you, too, but it wasn't an obligation for you to do that, especially if you had trouble focusing on it or balancing it. :) That said, if you do ever feel like playing Reever again, I'd love to thread with you.
<3!

Friending Contacts:
A bit about you: I'm into cosplay and RP, though because of so much of real life getting in the way, I haven't really kept up with either for a long while. I'm currently going back to school, at least to study math classes that I never passed, but since I got back into working with family again school is mostly a side thing. I could never pick a major. I sort of have no idea what I am doing with my life, and I'm 31, haha. ;;
DGM interests: I LOVE the science division! Actually, I like almost every single character, and don't really hate any, but Komui, Reever, Bak, Johnny, Tapp, Rob, you name it, they are definitely my favorites. Oh, and the Bookmen. I kind of quit reading the manga back when the Noah started looking like Arrancar from Bleach, but finally went back and blasted my way through it all. I was liking it... until I got completely lost with all of this Nia plot. If someone could straighten me out I would appreciate it, but I've sort of put it down again for a while to wait it out in the hopes that helps again. As far as ships go, I like AllenxLenalee, LavixLenalee, and you can convince me of KomuixReever if they aren't falling all over each other in favor of science/responsibilities, but I think I'm starting to crack-ship Komui and Klaud Nine. I wish that the manga wouldn't forget about characters like Miranda or Chaoji.
DGM fandom activities: I cosplay! I used to RP, but I have no time aside from one-on-one stuff that is likely going to stall out unless you are very patient with me. My cosplays are here, though: www.facebook.com/prince.rasiel/photos?bookmark_t=app and http://www.cosplay.com/member/3690/
Fandoms you're into besides DGM: Uh... a lot? Lately Code Geass, Escaflowne, Slayers, Hunter x Hunter, Ys, Sailor Moon, Rosario & Vampire, Tales of Vesperia, Heat Guy J, and Cowboy Bebop
Other hobbies and interests: I am learning a lot about cooking lately, and have started making bento!
Anything else? Uhm... Well I should probably use this space to apologize that if I have ever tagged you in the DGM dressing rooms RPs with Bookman or Reever and let our threads die, I'm forever sorry. OTL Maybe one day I'll have the time to RP again, but not right now. If you were curious, I do have a muselist, but I'll only commit to RP if it's super duper slow.

Friending Contacts: morphinedementia@dw, and variations of that throughout the Internets. Also demderp@plurk, though it's mostly RP stuff or generic fangirling about Things and laughing at everything.
A bit about you: I'm 21, and a technical university student with appreciation to anything funny (or what I deem to be). Past few years have been bad, but I'm generally into creative stuff. Ish.
DGM interests: Mostly it's the characters and the visualization (?) of the atmosphere that caught me. I really like when the setup makes me feel it, even if I don't notice the details at first. Plot is cool too, but it's secondary in that. And, eh, I think this was the first series where I pretty much liked ALL characters? To name some favorites, that would be Road, Reever, Kanda, Lavi, Suman, Tiedoll and so on. I mostly relate to Miranda, though. 8D;; It's probably a well known fact that I ship Kanda with Lavi (and Lenalee. and Alma.) and was pretty active in fandom a few years back. Choosing a favorite part is difficult, but let's say it was the Ark (esp Kanda VS Skinn and Lavi VS Road fights), Rewinding Town and Level 4 arcs. I'm still reading because I'm
a masochistinterested in how it'll end and in hopes to see more cool stuff along the way.DGM fandom activities: I used to write fic (but I haven't in a few years so naturally most of my stuff makes me ashamed now ahaha. I'd like to get back to it some day), and I sometimes draw a bit, mostly ridiculous stuff. Nowadays I mostly bum around or RP; I usually play some version of Kanda and my main journal on DW for him is
Fandoms you're into besides DGM: Gintama, Megas XLR, AMG Alice, Harry Potter, Pandora Hearts, Shaman King, Friends, Get Smart (the series) and a bunch of other animanga/book/TV/videogame things, although to be honest I'm not really in the fandoms aside from being a fan and desperately looking for people to scream at about the latest hideous line or something.
Other hobbies and interests: drawing, writing, making music, I used to do some crafts but one day my patience for it ran out. I also like gears. And screwing stuff (with a screwdriver, you pervert). I used to read a lot and still do when I find something interesting (ooh, mr. Remarque, ooh). And games, from domino or chess to Sims or Click The Goddamn Penguin. Also sleeping, like most students.
Anything else? idk lol

Name: Cynthia
Friending Contacts: I don't really go by anything specific, but I have two LJs, subaru_san and crown_clown0, and a Skype name of "cynahmar". If you do add me on Skype, please specify that you're a D.Gray-Man fan because I get a lot of junk spam requests.
A bit about you: I'm 34 and live in Canada, specifically in Montreal in the province of Quebec, so my timezone is Eastern. I'm currently studying in Child Studies and trying to enter a program to teach in elementary schools. My first language is french but my favorite subject in school has pretty much always been english. Math was interesting until it got too complicated for me, and history is fascinating but far too complicated at university level.
DGM interests: My favorite character has always been Allen though Lavi's been a close second for a while now and Tyki is my favorite Noah. The direction the author has taken with Lenalee has disappointed me, she turned out to be too whiny a character, and Chaoji has always been a character I couldn't stand. I don't understand the fascination with Kanda and I don't like him. I dislike Roufa and the way Lulubell was introduced in the anime as well. As far as ships go, I think Allen and Lenalee would make a cute couple, and so would Marie and Miranda. Other characters I've found fascinating lately, especially after reading Allen's novel backstory, are Mana and Nea. I really hope the author continues this series someday so we can delve deeper into that mystery.
DGM fandom activities: Unfortunately, I don't write or draw or anything, but I have enjoyed reading the novels, listening to the drama CDs, rewatching certain episodes and theorizing about what is currently happening in the manga.
Fandoms you're into besides DGM: Generally speaking, I like shounen series best. My #1 favorite series, Yoroiden Samurai Troopers, has a dub by the more well-known name of Ronin Warriors. Classics like Dragon Ball (the whole of it, but only manga-related content) and Yuu Yuu Hakusho have also long been favorites. I've also seen Saint Seiya and the somewhat similar Tenkuu Senki Shurato. I've also been known to watch a few mecha series, namely Gundam Seed (and Destiny), Gundam Wing, Gundam X and Soukyuu no Fafner. Someday I'd like to watch all the Gundam series but I have zero interest in Gundam OO, which I find generic and boring. Fafner is easily the best and most impactful series I've had the good fortune to watch, and though some draw similarities in it to Evangelion, I have no interest in the latter. Generally speaking, I also like fantasy series with an original twist, so I've also watched Fushigi Yuugi, Record of Lodoss War (OAV only, the TV series looks bland), and X. Regarding X, the manga is much better in both its drawing style and plot, and in the case of Tokyo Babylon, the sort of prequel to X, only the manga is worth reading because the OAVs take the focus off the characters and instead focuses too heavily on action. I've also seen the dark series Monster.
Other hobbies and interests: As far as game-related content goes, I've seen .hack//SIGN and Roots, played the first set of games, and disliked G.U. and its heavy-handed plot. I've also gotten interested in Final Fantasy VII, and though I've never played the game myself, found myself liking Crisis Core and Zack a lot more. I've had the chance to watch both playthroughs and the full near-3-hour cutscenes in good quality. As far as books go, I like to read mystery novels and have especially enjoyed the few Arsene Lupin books I've managed to find. Since I like fantasy, I've read and enjoyed the Wheel of Time (by Robert Jordan) and Sword of Truth (by Terry Goodkind) series, and also a few of Raymond E. Feist's books.
Anything else?
