I've been loving the latest episodes of the anime so I thought I'd come and share the love with everyone here <3 Again, some chibi!Lavi screencaps and, this time, some for you AllenXLavi fans =D
Not very good but it's the intention that counts, right? XD

Ha ha, you should not have told me that XD Well no one but the author (and, I wonder if she knows herself) knows about Kanda's true nature, but I am certain that regarding the way he sees things, he cannot love in his current state. Still, I am convinced that he did because of, you said it, the moment Lenalee goes to him when he is meditating.
I also like complex characters *____* they fascinate me. You think you know them or understand them correctly but they always can surprise you.
We agree on that point, to begin with. This example is a good one. But I think that as long as the pairing shipped is well-defended and properly based on the canon, that can fit. Or almost; if you think about my recent obsession for CrossxLavi, this is pure crack, so I think that crack and potential pairings really have to be distinguished. Again, comes her the question: "And just how do you define crack?". Well I admit, I do not have the perfect answer.
If you always keep the friendship side then yes, any can be shipped. But regardless fangirl likes, I believe that only LavixAllen and AllenxLenalee can be considered as love canon pairings. There is clearly something between those three, even if for the moment, nothing has been clearly said, I agree.
Who is the worst one, I wonder... XD Do not apologize, I love discussing about things like that ^___^ (rather as long as the debate is polite and nice, which is the case here).

"he cannot love in his current state" --- I'm with you 100% in this one. As Kanda is now, I don't think he has the emotional stability to love anyone. Still, it's not like he's an uncaring bastard; he can be nice except it's in his own way and, sometimes, I doubt it's even conscious (like the level 4 fight; he didn't have his Innocence and still fought. Was it because of his duty alone or because he wanted to help?) The scene that describes Kanda better for me is after this same fight when he and Lenalee exchange a glance, Lena goes crying towards Tapp and everyone and Kanda turns his back on them and walks away alone. It broke my heart to see that but it's exactly who he is. Complex characters FTW!
"so I think that crack and potential pairings really have to be distinguished." --- Exactly; writing fanfic is taking liberties with another person's story but we have to be able to see things clearly. We can't preach to the world how our pairing will happen in canon when, seriously, it has no chance of happening. If we'd like to see it happen, then we'll have to write it ourselves, most likely XP
"I believe that only LavixAllen and AllenxLenalee can be considered as love canon pairings" --- Like I said, I didn't quite believe canon LavixAllen until I saw these two episodes XP But what I really believe is that Hoshino will just keep everything as it is and let us guess what goes on behind the scenes XD Making one pairing canon would mean a lot of unhappy fans and, being a girl, she knows the fangirl hearts. Besides, I like it better with all the ambiguity 'cause then we can speculate and discuss 8D
He, he, same here ^_^ (Though I do think we are rather off topic 8D But that's fine with me! =D)

Right. If we look carefully, he really is not. Even at the very beginning of the anime, he saves Allen even though he had told him he would let him die if that meant the accomplishment of his mission. Yet he did not ~ Oh true, I had a bit skipped this moment. But yeah, I think it was unconscious for he says: "I am not going to die so easily" (or something like that, I do not exactly remember his terms but I am sure he says at least "I").
I would also say that on this point, Kanda is a bit cliché. He is the kind of person who does not know his own feelings and when it comes to emotions, he becomes clumsy and is not at ease. Kind of stereotypical but the way Hoshino developed him makes it interesting.
Totally agree on this point as well. Well we do not but there are things that always make us think or feel something. I am not talking about crack ones, no XD Crack pairings are rather delirious or kinky, but they come from people's imagination after all, so it must be the same... How about writing an essay: "What crack pairings are, how they come in our minds and why" =D
I did since the very beginning, even when the two of them met *____* There was something and there is something between them. Maybe not pure love, just like RoyxEd but there is clearly something different. Of course, that becomes more obvious in the last episodes, I agree.
True, the fact of Hoshino being a girl will probably make it easier for YAOI shippers XD
Hm... so do I but well, we always tend to love a pairing more than another and therefore to have it come true. I think...
Eh... kind of XD Fine with me as well My bad, I am always flooding the posts in this community, these days ^^, But I love exchanging with other fans. Talking about off topic, I had forgotten a letter in my previous comment, I just saw that T____T And I hope I did/do not make too many mistakes; I am French u___u...

Yeah, that scene is also the perfect example on how Kanda does this kind of things unconsciously. No matter how much he shouts to the world he doesn't give a damn and that he won't help stupid people, he'll still do it because, let's face it, he's a human being. The cool and proud attitude is really cool, yeah, and I wholeheartedly think he believes the things he says but, when it comes down to it, he can't just watch his comrades die without doing anything. That makes him more likeable than if he was a pilar of stone and ice which most humans can't be anyway; if any are capable of being at all.
"Kind of stereotypical but the way Hoshino developed him makes it interesting." --- My thoughts exactly 8D At the beginning, DGM just looked like another anime to me; it was cool, it had Exorcists, the Earl was creepy as hell, Innocence was insanely badass but... no more than that. But then the characters started taking such a life... Allen is not your typical goody-two-shoes hero who'll never do anything wrong in his life; Lavi is certainly not only the clown, funny and flirty guy; Kanda's character is not only the cool and unsensitive one, as we've been saying; Lenalee is also not your typical heroine (and I know not everyone will agree with me on this one but it's what I think) she's screwed up, she's gone through a lot and she chooses to fight. Yeah, sure, she breaks down sometimes, especially when she couldn't use her Innocence but, let's think about it for a bit before we crucify her for being whiny or something. You're someone so dedicated to your friends that you believe they're your world and everything will end without them. You're used to fighting alongside said friends and helping them (remember how mad she was at Allen for wanting to sacrifice himself and fight alone?). Suddenly, she's being protected by everyone, watching her friends being beat without being able to do anything and feeling like a burden to everyone. Yeah, I'd scream my lungs out too by the time I was trapped in a dice watching a batshitinsane Lavi fighting Allen... (And let's not forget she still tried to break Road's dice without her boots...)
As for pairings, I really respect anything as long as I can see a fundament or people say from the start that it's only crack (Btw, I forgot to say... CrossxLavi sounds kinda fun... The Master Pervert and Pervert Junior XD) In DGM, I don't really have a pairing I love so I'm even more open-minded. In some others, I'm more picky but I'll respect other people's choices. And off course, people like a pairing more than the other and will want to see it happen; it's like rooting for your football team XD What I don't really like is people arguing about which pairing is canon and rulling out all others simply because they don't like them (But I already realised that's not the case here ^_^) And I'd totally write that essay if I was more into crack pairings XD (Hell, I already write lenghty texts about the Heart and what not so I'm happy to ramble about anything 8D)
Ah, my fault as well, for being a rambler '-_- I love discussion too 8D Say, do you mind if I friend you? ^_^ (And don't worry about the mistakes, I'm Portuguese so my english isn't perfect either XD And your english is pretty good ^_^)

I also think he does not want to see his comrades die in front of him. After all, we can always remember Daisya =D He was in such a bad mood when Daisya died ~ If that does not prove anything, I am dumb XD
I would love to see a real heartless character. Not necessarily a mean one, but still, it could be interesting, being any manga, to have a completely feelingless character. It would be sooooo intricate; that person would not have any notion of good/bad, guilt/innocence, sadness/joy... *____* Oh my bad I want to write an original fic! T___T
To me, the most incredible thing Hoshino succeeded in was the fact of creating such a complicated universe with a so manichean base. Her characters are also basically stereotyped but, she developed them and made them complex. I admire her for that because it is really not something easy to do.
Well Lenalee always reminded me of a Mary Sue. She is the only character I really dislike. I respect people's opinion as well but I do not like her, I have my reasons, like many people have their reasons to hate Kanda.
CrossxLavi is total crack and crap but I would love to read some *____* After all, they are both redheaded, they both lack an eye/wear an eyepatch (and on the same eye, by the way... I would say there is something between them if I was paranoid, but I am not *coughs*), and, on top of that, they both are petticoat runners 8D that point wins =D
No, I do not mind at all <3 (O__o oh, that is fine with me but your English is pretty good as well ~)

About an emotionless character... That would be hard to pull off. If the character doesn't feel, then there is almost no conflict. The only way I'm seeing it work is to surround said character with overly emotional characters and have him/her learning how to feel. Otherwise, it would probably be weird plot-wise O_o But I may be wrong! I'll wait to see if someone will do something like this XP
Yeah, they are the typical stereotypes, that's for sure XP But, like you said, she developed them in non-standard ways and that's what makes them interesting. As for Lenalee... I know a lot of people don't like her; that's fine with me as long as it's not mindless character bashing. But everytime I see Naruto's Sakura, I just feel like flailing myself at Lena's feet and worship her as a great character XD She has some Sueish traits, I agree, but they do make-sense plot-wise so they don't bother me all that much and, then again, which shonen heroine isn't Sueish? XD Lenalee is bearing the weight of a thousand predecessor Sues on her back XP
Great! *does so*

I am already imagining that *____* a supernaturel plot where the main character cannot feel anything because there is something about his heart. Or, he has forgotten everything/his brain was damaged and therefore he is not able to feel anything anymore 8D Gyaaaah it is your fault, I cannot be without thinking about it, now! T___T Fuck, I am going to write it 8D
Well of course people who are really emotional are important in cases like that. I must elaborate a plot; I want to write it like hell T___T
I will not bash her in the first meaning of the term but well, I do not like her, this is my personal taste. As someone will not like Kanda or love Krory, I do not mind, it is personal appreciation of the personalities and stuff. I respect that too, as long as it is not pure bashing and pointless claiming of X pairing.
But I do not agree; not every female character can be said to be a Mary Sue. If I take the example of Tokyo Majin Gakuen Kenpuchou, the girls are not really Sueish. At least, less than Lenalee XD
Same for Naruto; I do not like Sakura but I am in love with Ino *____* that girl kills everything and I am sad we do not see her enough.
Bleh, Kishimoto is an Uchiha fanboy!Well this is a good thing for now we can go flooding somewhere else XD Oh by the way, I made me a reflection this morning, thinking about DGM... About the Heart. Could it be possible that actually, it is not only ONE piece of Innocence but a small part in, for example, Allen's and Lenalee's ones? It just happened to strike me... But I agree it is total crap XD
no subject
It's my fault in a good way, right? XD 'Cause inspiring people to write is always good in my opinion~!
Sure, it's all about personal taste; take me for example, I hate Sephiroth *gets burned at the stake by Sephy's fangirls* because I don't like his personality. Way too badass and way to worried about himself and... *shall save Sephy's discussion for another time XP*
Sure, not everyone of them is but, mostly, that's all we got. Hum, I didn't watch that anime, maybe I should? However, from the moment there is more than one central girl, the Sueism will immediately be divided and, most likely, will disappear. The thing in DGM is a) there is a frightening lack of girls and b) only Lenalee is a central one. (I love Temari 8D Fav Naruto girl! TemaxShika is <3 And I like Hinata and Tenten too, don't ask me why... Ino, I have a love-hate relationship with her XP I hate her when she's being fangirlish over Sasuke; love her when she's being all kickass with Shika and Chouji)
He, he I have a pretty lenghty ramble about the Heart and several possibilities about it in my journal if you want to take a look at it 8D
