Hang on a tic.

Question about Africa and South America in the context of the manga.

So Bak Chang's the head of the Asia Branch, Louis Fermi is the head of the Middle Eastern Branch, Renny Epstain is the head of the North America Branch, and Andrew Nansen was the head of the Oceania Branch.

Admittedly, the only reason we know there's a North America at all in this story is because of Renny, and also Klaud Nine, Winters Socalo and Tup Dop's nationalities.

But there are no Exorcists from Africa or South America, and no Branch Heads have turned up from those areas.

Do you think Hoshino's skipping those continents, or that there'll be info later? Could be there aren't branches there, and I guess there's always the possibility that they ended up like Japan. I was just wondering if the author mentioned this in omake or something and I missed it.

I remember seeing Africa in a table of all the Branches ages ago. I think it was in [livejournal.com profile] exorcists_order. Not too sure about SA. I'm kinda disappointed, though. I like those continents. :[

I think that Japan's case is different from South America or Africa, D.Gray-Man's background is 1800, in this time Japan was closed to the rest of the world and would only open up in the second half of the 19th century. So, Hoshino's explanation for Japan's closed situation was due to the large quantity of Akumas, but South America and Africa weren't like that at all. For example, Brazil was an open 'country' (not exactly a country, because it was a Portugal's colony and would only become independent in 1822) in 1808 and England was very powerful. So, different from Japan, most South American countries weren't closed and, unless Hoshino decides to 'change' more world history, there's no reason for Hoshino to make South America and Africa have the same problem of Japan's.

I guess that he'll comment about these Branches later (well, I hope...) or he'll simply ignore their existence.

Here (http://www.exorcists-order.info/glossary/black_order_hierarchy) it is!

Hahaha, I wouldn't put much faith in the anime. It is so low-quality, I only watch the stuff that includes my favorite parts. It is just so. Blah and. The filler is awful, imo. ; I don't think Hoshino gets much say at all.

She says she is in the fanbook interview. I don't have a translation/scan handy or anything to prove it with, but I own the fanbook and have read it myself :x

It would be cool if there were Exorcists from South America and/or Africa. But we seem to have mostly white and Asian characters. XD
