Hey all! Lately there's been a lot of discussion and theories thrown about concerning DGM. I've noticed that most of them are related to religion (of course) and how the characters relate or differ from one another. I've been doing a great deal of that as well.

Lately, though, I've been looking a little closer into the political/historical aspects of the series. I had mentioned in a previous thread that the time period DGM takes place in is probably between 1890-1904 (just an educated guess), and during this time period, there was a lot of tension in Europe. Wars were being fought, wars related to land, wars that questioned the abilities of monarchs and the upper class of society. Little wars and disputes that eventually escalated into what we know as WW1. I'm not saying that this is what the DGM characters are involved with at present, but the world they're living in is setting the stage for that particular point in history.

As far history relating to our characters goes, the easiest connection would be Lavi and the Bookman. As part of his duty in recording history, Lavi has been exposed to a lot of war and social unrest in various societies. Yet he and the Bookman are currently focused on the troubles taking place in directly Europe. They read up on the current events taking place on the political scale and observe the steady changes of the world around them in relation to the innocence, but how all the assassinations and social uprisings will ultimately affect humanity for the future.

Now we can also apply this to the Earl and the Noah family, more specifically the newest memeber of the family, Road's "father" (I can't spell his name >>;;;). We don't know much about him as of yet, but from what we do know in recent chapters, he's definitely a politician of sorts and therefore has access to some of the deeper workings of not only his own country's system of government, but other nations as well. He appears to be purposefully stirring up war or at least causing nations to drift apart instead of negotiate.

So the more I thought about it, the more it reminded me of my modern European history course. Wars of the past usually didn't start right away like the sort of do now. And there were some dirty political misunderstandings going on. The gradual build of tensions and unrest would take months, even years to reach a breaking point. It's this slow build up and time frame that have led me to consider that in the DGM universe, the Earl (and quite possibly the Dark Order) are partially responsible for the future World Wars. Far fetched? Maybe, but it's just an idea. Anything's possible.

So, yeah, that ends my babbling^^;; What I'd like to know is if I'm just reading into it too much or if anyone else can draw a possible parallel between history and DGM. I'd love to hear your thoughts! ^_^

...that is very brilliant, indeed, but one question.

Why would the Earl and the Noah want to create a big war? If it's just for the sake of creating akuma, it makes no sense - it's be a neverending cycle. Figures it can't be for destroying the Innocence and Order either - as long as there's the Earl, there'll be Innocence and Exorcists. That's what I think, anyway.

Theory on this actually ^_^ War = massive amount of people in despair +lots of dead folks = more Akuma?

Perhaps?

Also they'd probably enjoy watching humanity destroy itself over something they did.

Thoughts?

It's been my base assumption for quite a while that the Earl's activities are, in fact, going to result in WWI arriving a number of years early. In fact, I think we should just spell Cyril Kamelot's name 'Arch-duke Franz Ferdinand.'

Well said.

How about not only for creating akuma but Also for the simple reason of killing humans.
Did many of the Noah say how they are "superior" humans and Rhode even mentions hating humans, If the Noah and Earl want to give rebirth to the world or destroy the world (Forgot which it is they want)What a better way they have the humans fight against themselves to help get rid of more humans and have more opportunities to make akuma. With the humans makeing war just makes it easier for the Noah to go about their activities without being noticed/ couninue secret activities.) Sorry if that made no sense

No, this makes perfect sense.

Noah's and Earl are killing two birds with one stone with creating a war. Since Sheryl has a high position as Minister he easily manipulate and instigate a war between the two countries as you can see when Minister Leslie of Foreign affairs when he turned out to be an Akuma then opened fire on Sheryl's subordinate. Noah's and Earl have such high status to create as much plus with Earl re-making a new Akuma egg we can see that this very well can turn into a World War so I agree the timing and gender are perfect for the idea for WWI

umm I didn't make much sense...

WWI would consist of Noah's and Earl V.S. Black Order and "The other side of the war"?

Considering how little we've seen of Cyril and his affairs..I suspect his work has something to do with the hidden side of the war..I think there's even a chance that Bookman and Cyril have met before considering their positions..
