Share your favourite DGM fics to help pass the hiatus! yay

Sorry if you've seen the previous unfinished post. I'll never get used to the fact that LJ posts if you hit 'Enter' in the tag box. ><

It's been days since the announcement of the recent hiatus but I'm still feeling rather glum about it. I don't think I'm the only one either.

The only solution I can think of to alleviate this is: Fanfics!

There's only one DGM fanfic I'm reading currently (unless the author updates her other fics) and owe tons of yet-unwritten reviews to: Any Way You Want It by Novelist Pup

I'll admit that I'm a prude who's not usually fond of pairings, yaoi, drugs, slang or the 80's but I loved it all for this fic! Just about every character in it is lovable and they're all rather in character, even the ones you usually hate. If you love character interaction then you'd probably love the writing style too. What makes it even better? It's still ongoing! Seeing it update during these DGM-deprived weeks is like an extra godly god-send (because it's already a god-send in itself)

And now it's your turn. What other amazing fics do you know of that can save the sanity of your fellow fans? And don't just tell it, sell it!

Edit: Also, does anyone have tips for writing about stuff they don't actually know about? I'm trying to write a fic of my own: D.Gray-man in a Phoenix Wright kind of setting. Except I'm having trouble trying to figure out stuff like how lawyers work and other real-world issues I generally don't bother with and researching it all is killing my motivation.

I remember passing on this one after reading some of the first chapter a while back, but thanks to you I gave it another chance. I'm keeping a tab on it now.

I was surprised when it hooked me the first time, because I'm normally really picky about DGM fanfiction, so it's good to hear you gave it another go! It really is a good story, even if not much has been written yet :)

I remember reading this. It was well written but it kinda left me queasy. Thanks tough.

As for an idea, how about someone like >insert name< (doesn't really matter who, though Lavi or Link would be good I think for a number of reasons) is doing a case where they are trying to defend Allen for killing his step-dad Mana and prove his innocence enough to keep him from jail?

sand castle by metisket is my absolute favorite dgm fanfic I have ever read so far. Cross and Allen are wonderful and the story following those two for their years together before Allen becomes an exorcist is truly grand. I highly reccomend it, even if you've read it read it again. XD

Anything by Artbug on fanfiction.net: http://www.fanfiction.net/u/1239261/ Especially her "Mana", "Cross", and "Komui" collection. Mana made me cry, as did Komui. Cross is still being updated, and looks like it's on its way to making me squee-cry. She's just amazing.

A while back, I did a long list of Komui/Li sibs fics that I love (http://duelist.livejournal.com/502958.html). Watch out for the occasional bout of pairings and yaoi though, lol.

Sure, why not? Even though I don't know Spanish myself, I'm sure there are others who would really appreciate it. :3 (And I can always try putting it through a translator. I heard Google Translate and Yahoo Babelfish are pretty good with the language.)

Warning: I must admit that the spanish fandom is overloaded with Fujoshis unleashed (awesome, funny and quite friendly ones ;) ) so het fics and gen fics are a tad rare, yet there are tons of yaoi and crack/parody fics.

I have also not read a lot since I started university but these fic are easy to read (some might have local expressions) and have nice/crazy plots. It is strongly recommended that you check around FF spanish page, there are more than in this list ;)

All the fics are for teens upwards according to FF rating, some are mature and are shown.

Current manga spoilers. Kanda Yuu vanished, taken by the enemy. Six weeks later, the Order has irrefutable proof that he is killing Finders. The Order steps up the task of finding him, but the line between sides has become indistinct.

Kanda centered, but you get all the possible points of view.
Half through it, she divided it into two possible storylines and endings that she writes simultaneously, so read the authors notes to avoid confusion. But damn, is that well written.

Every character has his/her own importance in her storylines and they all get equal attention.

I really really enjoyed Kiss! Kiss! Love You, Baby! (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4435956/1/Kiss_Kiss_Love_You_Baby) by ritachi. It's an excellent AU fic set in Japan. According to the author, it will eventually be Lavi/Allen, but for now it's pretty general, she estimates that Lavi/Allen will only happen around chapters 25-32. While it's a high school fic, and I know some people would shy away from it, this is excellently written and includes everything from humour to angst to general boy-ish silliness to serious-ness. She develops her characters very, VERY well. Also, it's written from Allen's first person narrative and his voice is believable, like a typical teenager (i.e. NOT weak/pushover) and there is plenty of interaction between him and Lavi, Kanda, Lenalee, and Cross. So, um, yeah, my intro really isn't as great as the fic, I suggest to just read it XD
