Chapter 187 Polls
I created a couple polls concerning this latest chapter. There are spoilers, in case you haven't read it already.
This first poll was created all in good fun, and not out of malice.

And, because I'm genuinely curious:

It got my attention, but in a horrified sort of way. I wish there was better pacing, continuity, and character development (though Wisely's was good! and Tokusa's but yeah) along with the WTF moments.
It is entertaining trying to integrate the information about Noahs that was newly introduced.
no subject
Eh, I've seen worse pacing (but then again, I've read tonnnns of manga). As for the Character development...why would she need more than for Wisely and Tokusa? They're the focus of this chapter, the others can wait (if you know anything about character development, it's to take it relatively slow. Or else it realllly screws up with everything.)
Not to mention it would be boring if we found out stuff about everyone, don't you think?
Yup. I just paid a visit to the kink meme and Wisely's already become popular XD *likes that* (his name has also been added to the list on Fanfiction.net as have the other Noah's)
no subject
As have I. It's not going to keep me from mentioning the pacing here, though. XD ...I probably should have said "character design" instead of "character development." I absolutely approve of character development being handled gradually. The new Noahs (besides Wisely) don't look like they are well-designed or have interesting personalities, and don't appeal to me at all. If Hoshino proves me wrong in subsequent chapters, that will be awesome. I do know it's a matter of opinion, though--I doubt a majority of fans are that interested in the Crows, while I think they're great. (Although it helps that they're a character type I like and the fandom has done some interesting things with them.) However, the Crows seem to have potential, and these new Noahs...I would rather never see them again. XD
Well, I would like to learn a lot more about the existing characters. :)
Haha, Hoshino did well with Wisely...he collected a lot of fans. I hope there's more Crowfic sometime, too.
no subject
I see, I see (I was going to ask if you meant something else *since she's read the other comments and the like...and yeah, that's not creepy is it? ^^;* but I see your point. It doesn't help that the Earl wanted to do the whole 'color coded for your convenience' thing (or the whole "They're twins, so let's dress them up the same!" thing. That really doesn't work for 14 people) Wisely, Tyki, and uh...the guy that's completely covered were the only ones who stuck out. I think Hoshino will handle them individually later.
As for the Crows, I actually like them too (if fans really think about it; they'll figure out they DO like them). Though from what I gained out of the information; they all might die eventually which is really sad to think about; so lets not dwell on that. I've been trying out two separate pieces with Madarao as one of the main characters (admittedly on the kink meme. But still)
And we'll learn about them. When Hoshino feels like we should. No one complained that it took 180-something chapters for us to learn about Kanda (garnering he WAS Absent for a huge portion of the timeline)
Though I also find it interesting...*this just popped in her head* maybe the potential mind!screw at the end, will be sort of an intro to a flashback...and yeah. *random, she knows*
I actually attempted to draw Wisely XD (it's just a sketch, on my deviantArt account). He's very interesting~ I wanna work with him (or fill out a request on him. Though right now I'm working on like, 5 so it's near impossible ^^; )
and I really need to be in bed, it's almost midnight. But HECK, it's FRIDAY and it's my first weekend back from University so I'm stayin' up~ and workin' on mah fics~
no subject
I can't believe Hoshino went through with those outfit designs...XD At least the twins' outfits don't look so bad (and with their personalities, they WOULD wear something like that), but they don't look like their old selves either.
Oh, another Crow fan? :D I assumed they were going to die when they showed up; they're that kind of character. However, Tokusa's brutal death in this chapter didn't make me like it more. I've been drawing 'em a lot, though, and will be looking for more Crow-centric fandom works.
Yes, earlier I saw from your latest LJ entry that you wrote a Madarao/Link fic, and I was like OMG I LOVE YOU. (I searched it out on the meme and read it. Looking forward to the next part.) I love that pairing so much right now, and I've been waiting for English fics about them. <3
I think it's high time Hoshino got to Kanda's flashback. I've seen a lot of people commenting that they're disappointed she didn't get into it in this chapter, as promised by the original chapter announcement. But I agree that whatever Wisely's saying to Kanda about Alma will lead into Kandapast.
Thank you so much for the watch! <3 This is my fandom/fic account, but awhile ago I lost my motivation to write although I still have a couple Noah fics I'll post sometime and I also wrote some short Crowfics that are not worth posting so it's not that active. I do check my friends page, however. I've enjoyed these chapter discussions, even if we disagree about the chapter quality. *watches back*
no subject
No they don't...I'm really curious as to what happened to those two. I'm sure we'll find out eventually (when they actually fight)
*laugh* When it comes to D. Gray Man I'm a fan of just about anything you can possibly throw at me (I'm like that with most fandoms too, but DGM is THE fandom for me right now). As for Tolusa's 'death'...yes he got his arms chopped off, and his leg broken...but I won't believe a character is dead till they're buried. That may just be me, though (I mean...a flight attendant once fell out of a plane *while it was up like 30 thousand feet* hit the side of a mountain; true she fell into a coma, but she survived. Humans are amazing) Though Tokusa isn't quite human so there might be some genetic issues going on there...and the fact of where they are and such...*shakes head* Let's just wait and see.
XD Really now? (wow I thought I was the only person who did that *checked people's journal entries and such*) Ah yes, it's actually an offscrene pairing in a major fanfic of mine that I really, really need to work on. GAH XD But I'm glad you liked it ^^
Not just Kanda past either (though that's highly likely. I mean c'mon 180 chapters? It's definitely time for something) it might also do some...flashback flashback stuff (like show what happened when Kanda met up with Zu, then it goes into childhood flashback, then goes back into regular flashback...then it goes back to present day my god, I almost feel sorry for Kanda, but HEY at least we'll know how he deals with mind!screw now! )
You're welcome ^^ Mine...isn't that active either (I'm more likely to post up quizzes I've taken, or to-do list's for things, rather than fanfics) I thought about creating one for just writing but I didn't see much of a point in it. ^^;
Though the reason I watched you is because I like your opinions XD (I mean, I highly dislike getting into such high-class debates that it leads to outright arguments *can't tell you how much I hate fighting/arguments/etc*. BUT we can talk about the differences civilly, and that's important ^^)
Thank you for the return watch!~*hugs* (and do work on those Crow fics, I haven't had a chance to read much fanfiction on any of 'em. And I'd like to, just to see how others take them *is always willing to help too, if you need it*)

DGray is the series I'm most into right now, too. I'm usually sensitive to flaws in the series I love, though, and will criticize the parts I dislike. (Usually I don't rant this much, but this chapter left an extreme negative on me. I think I've nearly burned out my ranting energy by now, though. XD) Even when I have no complaints, I love making fun of my favorite series and characters. Because I love them. XD I'm pretty sure Tokusa is dead...it seemed like a very final death scene, and he's a very minor character. If he's that injured, I'd rather he be dead, unless they can immediately reattach his legs or something. *has dismemberment squick*
Concerning Jasdevi, my guess is that
the Earl finally sedated them to make them shut upCrowley's Innocence caused some lasting side-effects and rid them of some of their exuberance. That's no reason for them to suddenly turn into angsty J-rockers, though.Occasionally I'll check out someone's user info or recent journals. Ooh, the more Madarao/Link the better! I'll keep an eye out for any fics you do post, especially if they involve Crows, Noahs, or minor characters. <3
Absolutely. XD Kanda flashbacks should be ahead, one way or another. I hope she fills us in on how the characters got from Point A in 186 to a distant Point B in 187, too.
I've enjoyed your posts too. :) I appreciate friendly discussions. (I hate flamewars and arguments too, and avoid getting involved in them. Or replying to anyone while angry. *doesn't usually get angry at people anyway*)
I'll try to finish something worth posting! *clenches fist* Thanks for the offer of help! I appreciate concrit, and if I want a beta-reader for any worthy Crowfic I'll bring it up with you. :D
Btw, there's a multichapter Link fic by

Hmm I guess for me the reason why I'm the most into it, is because I can relate to nearly every character XD (as in, I can look at a character and point to the RL person/friend I know that acts like them. Really makes it easy to understand). I guess it might be because of this that I can explain the faults and deal with them. It's odd though, I mean I can appreciate some works where people make fun of the characters, but I wouldn't write it ^^; I think I take writing too seriously to ever be happy about any parody I'll ever do. Hm, well right now it certainly seems like Cross is more alive than Tokusa *in terms of injury* and yeah it probably would be better that he died. But again, let's just wait and see (or at least, see how Hoshino handles it. She seems to be handling it VERY well, with the whole Madarao thing) *really loved that scene* (Also, it's good that you're all burned out now. Really...it's stressful to continually rant, because then you start questioning too many things, and it's a horrible rut to break yourself out of, and immediately your expectations are set low for the next chapter, so you'll be disappointed unless things turn out exactly how you planned them...and yeah)
*snickercough* yeah most likely. But...yeah I'm guessing they're still injured...or something...hrm...
Ehe...well the fic isn't on here (it's on Fanfiction.net) I'll have to ask you to list the pairings you like first, before I tell you anything more about it XD *because she doesn't want to make you read something you don't like* (considering everything ELSE about the fanfic...the pairing is probably the last thing you need to worry about...but...)
That's what I meant by flashbacks. I mean, it'll probably explain where the heck Madarao came in, and every other thing too. See? If you use your head a bit, you'd realize that that's a connection and then you can hope that hoshino uses it as what it could potentially be there for. *nod* (sorry just...at some points (on other posts) I felt like I was the only one keeping my options open XD Being drowned in a sea of pessimisim is no fun--where the heck is the RAINBOW? WE NEED A RAINBOW IN HERE! *laughcough*sorryit's2AMandshe'sdeadtiredandshouldbeinbed!*coughlaugh*
I don't usually get angry at people either (scared of how I'd handle it) I'm more likely to cry than get angry. And then I'm crying because I got the other person angry, and might've said something irreversible does that sound bad? >_>
Okay ^^ and you're welcome~ I like helping out where I can (I mean, I'm editing a friends actual story-she-wants-published right now. *it's only 4 chapters though* apparently because she doesn't get good crit anywhere else, which is kinda sad). Just tell me how you like your crit first, since I can be a little harsh *was in a Creative Writing class...teaches you how to give crit, but many people can't handle it* and yes I figured out people couldn't...the hard way...*wince*
Ooh, okay I see. I shall check out her profile~ (I'll bookmark it, I guess, since it's now almost 3AM XD) but yeah...that's why I try to avoid in!timeline fanfics, because with Hoshino's work especially, the predictability bar is surprisingly low for many major features (like the lotus). It's part of the reason I love D. Gray Man, but damn it's annoying for fanfic writers XD *which is why most of her CHAPTERED stuff is AU* oneshots are fine, especially since the most I write can be written off as 'got it from the kink meme' XD which reminds me...doesn't the 14th x Lavi sound interesting? *is working on a request like that now, for the kink meme* adn it's VERY fun because I just got the okay to make it as long as I want to XD

I can't help questioning things in the first place. XD Also, I've kind of enjoyed ranting about the chapter, and my hatred for it drove me to participate in this LJ comm more than I have in a long time, and even translate the full spoiler script. Is it possible to enjoy a series for the wrong reasons? I only worry that I may have upset people by being overly critical, but as in exchanges like ours, people are posting politely about the subject and seem mostly fine with it. If it comes up again, I'll try to be lest ranty around those who like the chapter, while still expressing my opinion. XD
Hmm, I understand that you think Hoshino will make up for the plot gaps and sketchy characterization later, but we won't know until then, so we can be either optimistic or pessimistic depending on our views. It could go either way. And in my mind, "she will fix it later" doesn't make up for "it's bad now (in my opinion)." Starting an Istanbul Plot and then having the characters show up in a Scattered Around the World Plot without warning isn't good storytelling. I do hope she explains this later, which would make it not quite as bad, and also I simply want to see more Tokusa, Allen, Linalee, Link, etc. on the same mission. Thus, I'm hoping for a flashback. *hastily plasters a rainbow poster over her pessimism* I am somewhat hopeful because her old editor is returning.
Hee, editing for people is fun. I also took a Creative Writing class once, so I have experience getting in-depth criticism on things I wrote. I don't know if I'll manage to finish any (decent) fics anytime soon, but I also welcome concrit on stories I've already posted. I won't necessarily change anything major about those, but it should still be useful for applying to later fics I may write. "This would be a better story if...." or telling me the strengths/weaknesses you see would be a good way to go about it. :) Also, it helps me if you point out any typos you come across. I'm bad at letting those sneak in there.
Hmm, pairings I like...I'm not into that many pairings, but I like Madarao/Link (A LOT), Link/Allen/Link, Rhode/Allen, and Tiki/Devit. Lavi/Chomesuke and Lavi/Miranda are kinda sweet. Also, I'm good with any canon (or canon-ish) pairings like Marie/Miranda. I'm bored by any combination of Allen, Lavi, Kanda, and Tyki (and sometimes Linalee). But if your fic includes Link in any substantial form, I would love to read it. And I certainly won't hold it against you if your fic contains any pairings I dislike; I can look it over and choose whether to read or not
or just skim it for the Link parts. Also, don't worry, I like giving and receiving concrit, but I don't comment on fics like I comment on manga developments I dislike. *only comments on fics she likes (but doesn't always find time to comment)*I suppose 14th/Lavi would be interesting to people if done well. However, I'm not that interested in most pairings, so it's probably not something I'd read. Do you have pairings that are particular favorites?
Btw, if you reply and I don't right away, it's because I'll be out of town most of the weekend.
no subject
Oh yes, it's quite possible. I hate doing that though; I nearly did it with Bleach. JUST nearly. *thus she's avoided the fandom*^^; it's good it's gotten you more involved...but I guess I just don't get how people like being angry. From the RL experiences I've seen...that usually goes down hill...really fast, and makes everyone pessimistic. And no one should do that. I mean, I love reading people's views and all, but I'm the kind of person who can easily be swayed (and who can't be told 'don't read it then' because they're peoples opinions--of COURSE they're important). Again, too much pessimism drives out the people who actually LIKED the chapter (which might also account for your poll results being the way they are, btw) and it doesn't give a good view of the chapter as a whole (makes it very misleading, oh yes. Especially if you're like me and LOVE to read spoilers before you read the actual piece). most pessimistic views tend to, obviously, be stronger than the positive...and forceful...and yeah. *cough*
Again, why do people like pessimism more than optimism? or are we all secretly masochists? ^^; YAY FOR HAPPY RAINBOWNESS! *peace sign* Also, read Bakuman. Because yeah, Editors hold power; so do publishers (they can force someone to take a break due to health reason, even if the other doesn't want to)
Ooh, that's cool! Yay another creative writing nerd! *means it affectionately, of course* Oweh, I've done where I've given CC on a fic someone had already had up (it was a oneshot). Let's just say she didn't handle it well.
TYPOS ARE EVIL. My biggest issue is with FF not CHANGING my typos. *especially in the fic she's about to mention* so many people constantly point them out and it's like "Err...you'd think by now *A year later* I'd realize that one misspelled word in Chapter One...um...yeah. Ignore it?" ^^;
Really? I'm into nearly every pairing; if it's written well, then I'll read it. As for the fic, It's Lavi-Kanda centric; they're the main pairing (but their 'relationship' isn't really the focus. *really dislikes fics where the pairing is the sole purpose the plot is still standing*) though I do have Allen x Rhode, some Lavi x Tyki (blackmailed) Link x Madarao is a recent pairing that's been introduced...um, and many more? XD
Though again, I'd hope you'd read the fanfic for it's contents. Not it's pairings XD (it's kinda BAD that fanfiction has gotten away from plot, and has entered "OMG WHAT PAIRING IS IT?" >_> ) but anyway; the fanfic is called Pressure and...well, actually I summarize it quite nicely in a fanfiction meme I did. http://harmony283.deviantart.com/art/Fanfiction-Meme-133303464 <--this is the link (tell me if it doesn't work) it's question number 6.
Hm, well you won't know you like a pairing until you read it. *shrugs* But as I said above, I'm pretty much cool with any pairing as long as you can write it well. But my favorite currently is: Lavi x Kanda (friendship, or relationship) I also am fond of Rhode x Allen, and I'm starting to warm up to characters like Madarao, and I also like Link...err, but yeah my favorite *the one I'll get a bit (or very?) defensive over, for personal reasons* is Lavi x Kanda.
Oh, and speaking of pairings, since I hold the mantra that I do, I really don't see how people can 'hate' a pairing. The only time when that makes logical sense is if someone literally forced their pairing down the others throat, and bashed the one they liked. That right there is inexcusable. If you don't like a pairing--or outright hate one--and are talking to someone who loves it...then at the very least be respectful. If they start ranting about it; change the topic. >_>
ah, okay, that's fine ^^ and I think I ran over the character limit O.o
no subject
I hope the first poll came across as more tongue-in-cheek than chapter bashing--I posted it because I thought it entertaining and it made me laugh, and would never post something in order to make people feel bad. Also, I think it's fairly easy for anyone to select the love/like options and express that opinion. And I think it's hard to deny that there are a LOT of people with mixed feelings about this chapter--and who feel like they missed something. XD
I don't like it when people are often angry, either. I'm not sure if I understand my recent attitude or can explain well, but since manga chapters aren't a vitally important topic, I don't take it seriously (although I like to talk about it a lot!) so I enjoy ranting about it or otherwise talking about my impressions while reading others' opinions. And my attitude towards it is partly amusement, for sure--I can sure as hell go on creating things that make me laugh, as I have for the chapters I loved. (Sure, Tokusa. (http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/ff241/Kkamagwi/SureTokusa.jpg)) For example, this creative reinterpretation of the dialogue that cheers me up every time.
Yes, I love reading (fanfiction I read only sporadically, though) and in theory I love writing. I have great difficulty writing anything most of the time, but somehow Jasdero inspired me to write a great many Noah one-shots, therefore this account. That phase seems to be over. *sobs* I'm still trying to write, though.
Lavi/Kanda...*nods* Hm, I am intrigued by the Allen/Rhode as well. I tend to be more interested in complex platonic relationships, personally, and nearly all my own fics are Noah gen. Again, I'm not that into pairings, although there are usually some I like and one or two I'm wild about. MADARAO/LINK PLZ. Yes, I know it would be rude to say I'd read your fic and then not actually read the story, which was why that part was in strikethrough
even though I DO skim fics I'm otherwise uninterested in for the parts with Link, dammit, and I'll try to read it properly from the beginning. :3Actually, I know which pairings interest me and which don't. There are simply many characters and pairings I don't care about enough to read fanfic for, so I don't unless there's some other aspect of the fic that maks it worth reading for me. I *have* read a lot of Allen-Kanda-Lavi-Tiki pairings in doujin anthologies, and I can say for sure that those pairings don't interest me at all. I mean, they're legitimate pairings! It's great if you like it! But I don't. *has a narrow range of tastes centered on her favorite character(s)*
Hmm, it certainly seems as if a lot of people hate certain pairings, as they hate certain characters. They can't see the characters together, or it breaks up a pairing they love (although I think pairing wars are just silly >.>), or they're annoyed by too many vocal fangirls who get into arguments about the pairing, or they're creeped out by loli/shouta pairings, or they otherwise think a pairing is just wrong. *thinks of a hardcore yaoi-fan friend who hates all non-canon DGM pairings because she can't see those characters together* I don't hate most DGM pairings, and I'm *certainly* not going to pairing-bash or argue with people about how their pairing omgsucks because I happen not to like it, I'm just disinterested in them. ^^; Since hatred is an emotion, and preference for pairings an opinion, it's not going to be logical.
Therefore, Madarao/Link is the best pairing ever.*
Hahaha, anyway. Over the character limit, damn. How impressive. XD Signing out to finish packing.
*unless that is Rhode/Allen
