So I decided for the first time to do a page by page statement/thought thingy because truth be told the only thing that made this chapter really good was Kanda's non caring attitude towards Alma and Allen self giving suicidal sacrificial ways, oh and finally seeing Lavi and Lenalee again after all this time.

Pg. 2: The only thing I have to say to this was "oh great another please save me allen from certain doom" and "lol allen got pwned by a rock formation in the ground"

Pg. 3: Allen do you really think telling alma to stop is going to work? that's like going up to the earl and ASKING him to stop his mad killing spree.

Pg. 4: Did anyone else think almas face looked sort of creepy there? or was that just me?

Pg. 5: oh earl <3 how I love your one tracked cause allen misery any way possible mind. Am I sensing some built up sexual tension from you? and alma good job in looking like an awakened Christ Devil thing (seriously when i read the text there i thought Christ has awakened and then i remembered that alma was an akuma and allen was the real christ figure in this series).

Pg. 6: I love almas face when he stepped on the dead scientists head it was all "whats this here...........oooooooooohhhhhh a dead human........yipeeeeeeeee"

Pg. 7: "a person?" *snort* no alma he's really a long lost fossil of an ancient species way before people exsisted..........yes a person *rolls eyes* also about time you woke up kanda, what took you so long.

Pg. 8: Did anyone else think alma and kanda are two halves of one whole when they looked at the faces side to side? cause i sure did.

Pg. 9: So allen is yet again saved by the third apostles.............well thats a downer.............I was actually hoping he somehow got saved by the earl and then whisked away while all this nutcase stuff happened.

Pg. 10: oh god.......no.......just no...............allen seriously you need help..........i mean come on you've been fighting in this war for how long now? and you had to had Takudou (or whatever his name is) spell this out for you? ok thats it either you die now or get kidnapped by the earl and then brainwashed to become this non caring monster cause i'm getting sick of your whining................and the sad thing is that allens my favorite character it's just that he can be a little annoying with the "wah wah i couldn't save this person wah wah poor me" routine.

Pg. 11: thank you Tokusa (finally lean this persons name) for waking allen up with a somewhat bitchword slap in the face now hopefully this lesson sticks cause if it doesn't.............mumbles..................anyways oh noes tokusa is showing signs of akumaism (yes that is now officially my new word).

Pg. 12: :( what is with you people and getting absorb.....................also yay Johnny for surviving and letting allen feel as though he is not a complete failure.

Pg. 13: the same goes for the important group except levierre (why wont you just die already? and yes i know i spelled his name wrong i just don't care about him and don't feel like giving him the respect of a correctly spelled name).

Pg. 14: The moment alma said that "I had a dream" statement i started thinking 'oh shitz, Martin Luther King is alma reincarnated' or would this be the other way around?

Pg. 15: oh how i love almas superiority act.

Pg. 16: poor kanda.........everyone seems to blame him when things go wrong. also tokusa what big mouths you have.................the better to rip allen apart with i'm sure.

Pg. 17: oh kanda you and your non caring one tracked mind................also "oh shitz tokusa"

Pg. 18: yes allen screaming tokusas name is somehow going to save him from becoming a monster.

Pg. 19: geez allen do the guy a favor then and KILL HIM don't just lay there stupidly and go "oh noes almas cells are going AWOL and making tokusa into a akuma what ever shall I do"

Pg. 20: oh earl how I love your mess with everyones heads until they explodeism......marry me?

Pg. 21: and now allens innocence is starting to go against its master...........see allen you need to follow by example if the innocence says its an enemy then you do as your supposed to and DESTROY said enemy.

Pg. 22: oh geez.........another mana moment only this time allen wants the innocence to kill him.............hmmmmmmmmm does this scream fourteenth all over it? i think so.

Pg 23: well that's an obvious answer i think.

Pg. 24: and now here comes the rest........oh hey wait look we get to see krory........HI KRORY WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL THIS TIME!

Pg. 25: and now heres lenalee and lavi.............oh how i missed lavis WTF is going on face

Pg. 26: and now we get see link and tewak (what is with these names seriously? how am I supposed to remember them.)

Pg. 27: meanwhile alma and kanda are fighting

Pg. 29: geez kanda alma was only complementing you, you don't have to be an ass about it

Pg. 30: allen i think the least of your worries should be kandas fighting at the moment and how i love almas question "do you have friends?"

Pg. 31: of course your an excorcist tokusa of course you are its' just that the black order happens to have a bunch of A-holes in it and they decided to make you an abomination................also yes allen go ahead and go with the earl make our day more interesting............and what do you mean the next issue is in august? do you expect me to wait that long?

Too much Alma. Needs more Krory, Lavi, and Lenalee. Also, WOW THE EARL IS A GRADE A TROLL, that last panel with his giant face just creepin' behind Allen, oh my.

Personally I think Alma needs to just disappear and never return (or stay dead this time around) but that's just me. The Earl is a pedo, he just wants to rape Allen but at the same time doesn't want to get caught doing it so what better way than to lead Allen away from his friends and then lock him up in his special room. *cough*

And wtf. Lots of shit going down in this chapter. BUT HER ART IS CONSIDERABLY BETTER THIS CHAPTER.
And I don't know if it's just me, but I hope I'm not the only who who loves Hoshino for dashing everyone's dreams of a heartbreaking tearful reunion between the childhood best friends. Pfft. Not. Gonna. Happen.

Hello~ Mind if I add a few words? XD

About Allen... that angst routine he has of saving everyone doesn't annoy me anymore because, well, it has been there since the beginning, so I'm kinda... desensitized? XD too used to it? XD And I can understand why he keeps going back to that same thing over and over anyway. :/

Also, wasn't this talk between Allen and Tokusa almost a revised version of Allen's talk with Kanda back in Matel or Martel or whatever, on that mission with the doll? *___*

Another thing is, I can't help but think that Allen's angst routine is DGM's equivalent to the typical shounen manga hero's motto - that is usually "If you have friends, everything will be alright" or "I trust in -insert random magical/precious object/person with all my heart!" or "believe in yourself no matter what!" - because usually that's the one thing setting them apart from the other characters, which all eventually "admire" him for (and yes, I'm thinking about Naruto and other such mangas here.... T_T) and that more often than not, no matter how many hardships the hero goes through, it's what helps him win and what is proven right in the end.
Of course, comparing DGM to the typical shounen manga is, well, outrageous, haha. But I can't help but compare that aspect of Allen's with said shounen hero's "motto". I don't know how many of the other characters agree with him (I can only think of Lenalee...but then again, she -supposedly?- only cares if her friends die, not other people... so i don't know) but I still think it's the one thing setting him apart... so either he'll get over it, find a new, better version of it, or end up proving it right in the end (ohmygodAllen, please don't die to save the world).

Finally, I doubt Kanda is as non caring as he seems *Kanda fangirl here, desperatly believing that there is more to him than he lets on* I don't think he's having doubts (as I see it, he made his decision long ago, and he doesn't regret it. He may not like it, but he doesn't regret it. It had to be done, now it has to be done again.) I just think it's not all that easy for him. Stony expression and so silent... yes, not easy at all. Oh Kanda. T_T

Another thing - what about the "never forgive, never forgive" thing? I mean, what's with the Skinn Boric mode now? (...either this is simply because the origin of the cells is the Earl and now Alma's gone haywire, or... maybe there is some hope for the Alma-might-become-a-new-Noah theory? which, I admit, would shock me beyond measure because, well, he's an experimental subject and all... and wouldn't that make him the second Exorcist to become a Noah? or something? even if he doesn't have his Innocence anymore? or does he? *squints at pages 28/29* Anyway, I can't really support that theory...)

and...OMGWTFBBQ, Kanda has more Illusions? YES PLS. *_*

finally... OH ALLEN. what is he going to do? I wonder if he could try exorcising the Thirds with his sword... but that would kill them since they're not Noahs, right? (if it does exorcise at all... why didn't it kill Tyki's Noah if that's what it was supposed to do?)
Anyway, I'm still very much hoping he'll leave the Order... but not to go with the Earl. *____* third side of the war FTW!!

also, I hope this is like the last time they said the new chapter would only come out two months later but it ended up coming out the next month as usual... i really, really hope so. (because otherwise I'LL DIE).

I actually agree with some of your points. And I may have been to hasty with the allen statement. Truth be told i am just tired of the can't save everyone and everything routine, at first i didn't mind it soo much then it got a little annoying and now i'm just tired of it.

I actually think alma may become a noah (i also think kanda could be a noah but lets not get into that)

I actually want allen to go with the earl just to see what happens (and if you remember the earl did tell allen he was going to make it impossible for allen to return to the black order).

Tokusa was badass in this chapter, at least up to the Akuma transformation. (So much body horror in this chapter...ows.)

Allen, on the other hand, was really useless. Tokusa's practical wisdom went right over his head, judging from his actions in the rest of it. Can't he put two and two together and realize that maybe they should, I don't know, KILL ALMA? Who just blew up the branch and almost massacred everyone (again)?

That's why I liked Kanda in this chapter.

Also, I know this is a shounen manga, but when did Link start smacking Level 4s with his fist? Last time we checked he was having trouble holding off a Level 3.

They can't kill Alma, not just yet, he can't die while hE still has the mind of a psychopath. Someone (probably Allen or Kanda) will play the messiah and redeem his soul, then he'll finally die once and for all and join Edgar+Touyi up in heaven ~~until Touyi bitchslaps him back to Earth~~.

To be honest, I think Alma just needs a little love. After all, he turned into an Akuma because his hatred was resonating with the dark matter. Ideally, remove hatred = remove problem. So all Kanda's gotta do now is ~~shower him with a little love~~ show that he cares for him (or something) and voila, Alma will turn back to normal, and the Thirds will follow suit too.

Probably for the ratings. Most of the other Jump SQ series have -very- provocative girls who show -lots- of skin. Lenalee's lack of drawn short-shorts bugs me, but it's a lot better than a full on panty-shot or being naked except for the panties. D:

Although since Link's such a perfectionist, he may have gotten some training in after his failed (but still kickass) standoff with the Level 3. I still have trouble seeing him punching a Level 4 without immediate dire results, though.

I'm sure the explanation is that it's the phenomenon where a formidable enemy becomes more manageable for all characters after one/several defeat one once, same as the Level Threes. But still! Bit of a sudden downgrade.

An upstanding protagonist that is not thinking right. But I won't blame him since he's been gutted so many times in a single chapter and the sight of Tokusa's new form is doing funny things to him ~~he's scarred for good, he'll never be able to sleep alone for a month.~~

No fear, Allen will come up with something, else he could always go for the FORBIDDEN TEMPTATION and save Tokusa (and the Thirds) from a certain death. Though, somehow, I picture Tokusa having a peaceful end, along the lines of 'Lord, I go to thee.'

The next chapter preview promised it to us! It has to contain something forbidden and tempting. Forgive me, but I can't help thinking of the Earl's lap dance as the true FORBIDDEN TEMPTATION.

He was too busy listening to Johnny screaming for help (because we all know Johnny is secretly the real main character). I wonder how many times more does Tokusa-Akuma have to hit him before Allen realises he should retaliate, or at least, defend himself. ~~And protect him like a bird protecting its young~~

For now, I think that's the only way. And it wasn't very long ago when Allen swore that he's not going to change into the 14th, so I hope he sticks to his words. Yeah, right now Tokusa is freaking out from the transformation, but I hope he realises it before the end of it. Besides, he should know that the Innocence has never accepted them, especially after they've injected themselves with Akuma cells.

I hope there's more to this FORBIDDEN TEMPTATION. It'll be a downer the Earl's temptation is just, "Come to me and I'll save your friends!" Right, as if anyone is gonna believe him, especially after he just said, "Kill 'em" in the last chapter. The Earl's lap dance will be the most traumatizing thing ever since... since this chapter!

My first observation is this:

I am so glad and relieved and grateful to see there is NO freaking humor relief/jokes/funny bloodied faces/etc in this chapter Except for the Earl but that is not such a big thing

Then, I also agree with most of the comments in your post. Allen's hero complex has been getting old since way back...Does he seriously need to cry every chapter?

And Tokusa: he has my admiration, he thinks fast and acts faster, even with such injuries and all. Getting everyone under protection when the worst was about to happen.

Can some other guys take the example? Like, say, Allen? I really love the boy, but sometimes he just stands/sits there...

Lastly, DAMN. Alma and Kanda in a re-do of their last encounter. I am also grateful to Hoshino-sensei for this, for allowing Kanda to face this situation directly. If Allen butts in with some heroics, I will have an aneurism or something. Let Kanda and Alma fight and talk and get this out in the open.

I am so looking forward to seeing what are the repercussions of Kanda activiting all those illusions, and to see how this unfolds. Kanda is conflicted and compromised here, even if his face shows nothing...it still is obvious that is the cruelest thing he is being forced to do- AGAIN.

My surprise is now Alma and his 'cannot forgive'. Great twist, a bit expected but still...good thing he is flawed and angry and fighting, instead of being a smiley stupid reincarnation.

All in all, I hope the next chapter focus in this situation and advances into giving it closure...instead of focusing in the Earl and Allen and the 500th time the Earl has tried to recruit him *sighs*

I don't really get why Johnny's had so much screentime....Okay, so he's probably the normal person we're supposed to sympathize with, so maybe my problem is that I just don't care about Johnny.

Since Allen has pretty high defensive capabilities, you'd think he could start shielding himself from Tokusa-Akuma's attacks without worrying too much. And yes, Tokusa SAW Allen's Innocence reacting with Goushi's Dark Matter. He knows how it works, so why freak out now?

"Do it or I'll kill your friends" isn't temptation, just plain old blackmail. What else is Allen going to get out of it? Maybe if Leverrier tries to burn him at the stake right then and there he'll have a reason to seek asylum. Words of truth! XD

Also, I've heard from a reliable source that it was revealed in the latest volume that Edgar is 43 and Touyi is 39 and they are indeed Bak's parents XD (Yeah, I know most of us kinda guessed it but I'm ecstatic that it was confirmed!) But damn, they both sure aged gracefully, don't you think? I can still believe Touyi's age to a certain degree since she's rather mature but Edgar looks barely a day over 25 O.o

And if I'm not blind, I think it's mentioned that there's a side story in volume 20... I mean, 番外編 stands for side story, right? Right? TELL ME I'M RIGHT! XD

Yes, after all, Cross did say that the 14th was on the run with Mana with the Earl hot on his heels. It seems that the Earl has been out to kill him, so why is he recruiting the 14th/Allen back at this point? Gosh, I don't know what to think anymore except that I want some FORBIDDEN TEMPTATION in the next chapter XD

I miss the variety and distinctive designs. And yet, I kinda don't mind them being pretty too. ~~No, he isn't, because everyone looks as pretty now.~~ But I agree on Edgar, he looks far too young to be 43 and yet the age does make sense if he's Bak's father. Then again, Bak looks pretty young for his age too :3

Now I know where did Bak's silliness come from. It certainly wasn't inheritted from his mother XD

Yup, it was released on June 4th in Japan, though I'm not sure what the side story is about. The Japanese blogger didn't mention it in their post, though, I'm not really picky about who the story features Okay, I lie, since volume 20 is all about Kanda's past, I'm hoping that the side story has something to do with it too, a closure to the arc would be very nice :]
