ponderings about Kanda (spoilers for recent chapters)

Some people guess that when this particular set of events ends, Allen and Kanda will leave the Black Order. But what if Kanda can't? Where is his original body now? What if he is not actually in his current body, but linked to his old one? If it is still in possession of the Black Order, then they've got authority over him and have all along.

How many years have passed? It's been approximately 20 years at a minimum, since his current body had to mature, but who says he was put in it immediately after his death?

...

And about the Mysterious Lady Friend ...

The relationship is still murky - but let's assume that it was either romantic or trending that way.

Did he ever tell her how he felt? He is, of course, no good at perceiving emotions in others, and he pretty much sucks at expressing his own, unless it's anger.

So, what if she's gotten used to him being dead? What if she married someone else? Hell, perhaps I'm getting ahead of myself - what are the chances she's still alive?

...

Kanda's gone bonkers (took him long enough), but what's with whatserface going "Alma shouldn't want to kill him, so stop Kanda" ...? (Paraphrasing there, clearly.) I seem to remember several occasions where AngryAkumaAlma said he hated Kanda, wanted him to die, etc. etc. etc. AngryAkumaAlma just shot the poor kid in the chest twice with those weird stick things! Uh, hello? Violence usually does not indicate that AngryAkumaAlma doesn't want to kill someone.

I am (not so) secretly hoping that Kanda kicks Allen around a bit before he somehow comes to his senses. I am also hoping he remembers to stick his one arm back on.

You make a very good point there. The Order probably had to bribe him in staying as an exorcist, especially because of the experiments they put Kanda through as a child.

I think that Kanda just wants to find that lady first, since he wants to know exactly why she's been appearing in his head all his life. I've heard two other popular theories, one being that Kanda is "reincarnated" from that lady due to the Second Exorcist project (by transplanting the brain or whatever into another body), and the other being that the lady is reincarnated into Alma.

And don't worry about his arm, if you look carefully in the last few pages, you can see that it regrew ;D

I'm assuming by 'original body' you mean the body that his current brain was transplanted from.
In which case, the body was last seen in the room Alma was before he went crazy. And who knows what he might've done to them while he was raging.
As far as I know, Kanda's not connected to that other body. The only connection he might've had was with the innocence, but it's safely transferred over to him now.
As for how long it took them to transfer the brain to a new body? Who knows.

I wondered if Marie had anything to do with Kanda staying? I would think Kanda could get out anytime he likes, but Marie seemed pretty helpless, and I don't think Kanda could take care of the two of them.
Or perhaps he felt he might be able to find clues to 'that person' if he stuck around.

also, Kanda retained very few of the previous body's memories. So it's hard to say if his current personality quirks are the same as those from the previous body, or if the brain pretty much restarted itself when it was transferred over and he developed into the person he is now through his own messed up life. My guess is that the person she knows looks and acts nothing like the Kanda we know, but that's just me. And no matter what, she has to be older than Kanda (assuming she's alive).
I always thought it would be cute if Kanda ended up finding her and she was a little old lady, and Kanda took care of her for a while. Haha i don't know why I like this idea.

Really, you could go on theorizing, but these are questions that have to be answered in the manga, which they haven't yet. If you want the right answer, your best bet is to wait.

My theory was actually that Alma was horrified that he became an akuma, so he's trying to provoke Kanda into killing him by taunting him, fighting him but not actually trying to kill him. Which is why Allen wants to stop Kanda from killing Alma.

...I thought Kanda didn't HAVE a body...that the one he has right now was somehow made of all those other failed exorists/compatibles...as in the second exorcist project was more of a chimera type of project...@_@...and I'm guessing that the lady is either someone important to ONE of the many ppl he's made up of or the reincarnation idea sparklishh has going there...lol...he's pretty enough in any case...=.=....

what do you mean about the 20 year thing though? I was under the impression that he's only been actually "living" for 9 years or so...assuming the body he came out with was about 9 or 10...and he's currently about 19 or something...maybe I misunderstood something along the way...? @_@

really? I just saw all the heads sticking out of those columns....so I thought it was a chimeric kind of thing....why else keep all those bodies...? and it'd be pretty hard for alma to spot his own body in that mess, wouldnt it be? @_@....

True...lol
