....O.O Kanda? dead? I didn't get that impression. A few panels before the end, he had one leg cut off (I think. did i see that well or do i have to go reread the chapter?), and by the time Allen sent him through the gate he had both legs again. It seemed to me that Kanda was clearly recovering and woul eventually be well again - now, as for Alma, that's a different story... i'm pretty sure Alma was dead or dying. but not 100% sure, so yeah.
And I also am a supporter of the theory that Kanda will come back eventually - after mourning Alma (if indeed he died) and putting himself back together, considering that Kanda must hate the Church as much as the Noah, I'm pretty sure he'll come back to join the fight once more. =)
^ I agree with what you said! I don't have the impression that Kanda was dead or dying; I think he was regenerating from the injuries. On the other hand, Alma's regeneration was established to have reached its limits a chapter or two ago -- and it seemed like he died in those last panels (the silence that startled Kanda, and the "Goodbye, Alma").
I think Kanda is alive and will eventually be back, and maybe in a better place emotionally and good stuff like that.
if kanda is dying, i hope he survives D: since he's one of the main charas, i think. haha it wont be the same if our dear samurai die, because no one will be there to fight and get angry at the beansprout and usagi :(
He was in pieces right after Alma self-destructed, but then suddenly was just about completely whole again right before Allen opened up a gate. His regenerative abilities must be amazing do to that so fast lol. Now I too have some questions:
-Why doesn't Alma want Kanda to know the truth about having the soul of "that person"? (a.k.a the woman Kanda sees in his dreams)
-Is it Kanda himself that loves that woman or is it because he has the brain of the dead exorcist that was her lover?
-Is Alma really the same woman? (since we know her soul is in his body)
So many damn questions and no answers!!! Also: what the hell happened with Cross?! Will Neah show up again???? :O
not completely sure, but didn't Alma say that if Kanda finds out that he is the person/(has the persons brain <.<'), that Kanda is looking for, that he will stop looking :/? Kanda said that he can't die before he finds that person, so uhhh maybe Alma saw it as a way for Kanda to keep on living and so on...
second question: I wonder myself <.<', on the one side I think that Kanda doesn't quite know why he has the urge to find that person (you know as in "his" brain wants to find her), but I'm probably wrong about that xD' So I keep wondering if they really are their own persons (Alma and Kanda) or if they actually are the dead exorcists :/
I agree waay to many questions xD but they hopefully will be answered... I would love to know what happened to Cross as well <-<, Iam sure he is alive...
Like attaining said, he was just put on a bus/ark so he's sure to be back after Alma passes away.
1-as moonlightspirit said it's because Alma's afraid that Kanda won't have a 'purpose' anymore (his purpose up until this point was to search for the woman that he has the soul of). So yeah he was probably hoping that by not knowing he'd keep looking
2-I viewed it as he wants to find this woman...to help quell the memories of the dead exorcist that had loved her. In a nutshell Kanda loves Alma (what 'kind' of love doesn't really matter here) and the memories of the dead exorcist he has the brain of...loves that woman, who Alma so happens to have the soul (and mind?) of. The line can understandably get a little blurred, but I hope that helped ^^;
3-Alma is Alma, that woman is that woman (just like Kanda is Kanda) Alma has her soul because he's an Akuma. He MIGHT have her mind as well (that was never outright stated as far as I'm aware) but I view them as separate people that just...merged due to the circumstances.
*really really hoped that helped a little* again these are just my views but if it helps you not be confused then it's all good right...?
Hmmm I guess it's starting to make sense to me now. Doing all this thinking just hurts my brain y'know? I'm kinda curious as to what will happen with Kanda's sword (is he still the accomadater (sp?) of it?).
Mm well sometimes it's better to try and think things through than to have them pile up ^^; DGM is one of those series where it's easy to get confused if you don't pay attention
Hmm I'm assuming he's still an accomodator since the Innocence didn't react badly when he realized he wanted to save Alma (so to speak) but that's a good question. I guess we'll have to wait and see :3
considering that Allen was still alive even though he has innocence IMPLANTED in his arm when he turned noah, I'd say that it's not really that relevant...lol...
I'm really surprised that he didn't bring Mugen with him...considering how attached he seemed to that thing....and then those hellish insects as like, pets or something...>_>...I can just imagine it now...=.=....@_@....
I'd rather believe that Kanda and Alma are just reincarnations...or at least Kanda is....Alma might've just been recreated from the woman herself...while Kanda's a completely different person, but just has the vague memories/soul of the original...*shrug*
aren't the gates just virtual/dimensional openings? so even if he destroyed said gate...they could still figure out a way back, right? I mean, its not like martel's in some separate dimension...and kanda and allen DID get there by foot last time...
Well, Kanda's in Italy now and if I remember correctly, Allen and Co. are in North America? And they didn't go by foot, they hopped on a train lol
It seems kinda funny now, because I remember after Kanda and Allen's first mission, Komui was saying how he was jealous of Kanda for being in Italy... the blue skies... And now Kanda and his "boyfriend" are on a honeymoon there, wtflol
I figured that Alma has her brain/soul....that was why he went beserk in the first place, when they were kids...because he didn't want kanda to know, so he figured it was better for them both to die instead of have kanda disappointed. (kanda has the brain of the dead exorcist who was the lover of almas dead exorcist brain >_> )
As to why....the way i see it, Alma realises who he was, remembers her and kandas previous lives and realises that Kanda would likely still have feelings for her. He would then imagine Kandas reaction if he knew the situation....kanda would hate him, be disappointed that the woman he loved is now a man....he would feel like their love couldn't be continued. Kanda would be ashamed of him.
Kanda didn't die. He was put on a bus, probably, but he didn't die.
We're made to think he died for a moment when he crumbles after the explosion and Allen cries over his body, but we see that he actually was listening to Alma and Allen's conversation. As Kanda is regenerating, Allen uses his belt to wrap up the Earl and use the momentum to get in the air -- this is because he opens a gate to Martel, the first mission with Lala and Gozul that Allen and Kanda had together. Allen sends Kanda and Alma through the gate and destroys it so that no one can follow them (Kanda also leaves Mugen behind with Allen). We know Kanda was alive, but he starts to cry because he notices that Alma has turned to stone.
The only thing that's ambiguous is whether or not Alma will live. Kanda was pretty beat to hell, but he'll probably be fine. XD
I used the phrase "Put on an Ark" the other day, haha.
Also agreeing with the "he's not dead" bit re:everyone. If nothing else, he's the second most popular character. He'll be back. Hoshino's just giving him a vacation.
sldkhgsdg I just thought of the trope (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/PutOnABus).
Yup. He'll be back whenever it's next convenient for the story (another 80 chapters?). Alma is unknown, but it's 50/50. I can see Alma living as easily as I can see Alma dying. I'm putting my bet on living for now.
I get the feeling he was put on the same bus as Cross, since they both left their Innocence behind. (Literally AND figuratively in this case |||orz).
I'm glad they tied up the whole "that person" thing, and I'm glad Kanda knows Alma was the woman, and I'm glad he's still going to keep buggering on anyway. Good for him! Having him keep living on for something fake would have been stupid.
I don't think Hoshino killed off Kanda, but we might not see him again for the rest of the series, or at the very least, a long time. Kanda did say that he and Alma would run away to a place where "there is no Innocence, no Church".
Since Kanda is so popular, the latter option seems more likely, but I would be very impressed if Hoshino's brave enough not bring him back.
Nope, he and Alma ran away to Mateel. Kanda asked Allen if he remembered where their first mission was, Allen replied with a yes and Kanda said "No one can find us there". I'm pretty sure "us" meant he and Alma :/
*snort* lol, I thought that he was trying to tell Allen to elope with him...hahahha, confused the shit out of me...@_@ =S wish my initial thoughts were correct...=.=....
hahaha, so? it's Yullen~ =PPP it just sucks that Allen stayed behind, not like Allen has anything left to really do...lol...just yell at the ppl...hahaha....
.... I think that the one who died was Alma ;____________; damn it... I don't want him/her to die D'X ... it's not fair!!!!!!!! they just found eachother!!!! they deserve to be happy =(
Nah, she just dyed his hair white/lilac/another light color, of course she is going to use his new character design some more \o/
Seriously, though, MangaStream just scanlated the chapter and you can see it for yourselves: he does not die. Actually, Allen goes all badass and helps a lot, pulling the ark gate and being the very definition of BIG DAMN HERO. I THINK Alma/Wtv died, though. Not that he was alive, in the first place.
D:
And, after 199 chapters, Kanda finally call Allen by his name. I squeeled.
I pray that they are on the same bus making a round-about trip. I really want Cross to come back. He made me sigh dreamily whenever he was in the scene.
But I really want more Lavi, Link and everyone else. Tyki's looking rather ravishing also so that's a plus.
