Kanda Yuu

"An 18 year old Exorcist from Japan. He can recover much faster due to a mysterious tattoo above his heart (which looks like a Hinduism seal), and it is related to a flower sealed in a hourglass that was said when wilted, will kill Kanda with it. --> I'm looking for the manga chapters that actually has the explanation or the content of the following underlined phrases.

I didn't know about the hourglass thing with lotus at all. Maybe I skipped that part during the marathon or whatever. I can't remember reading something like that.

I viewed the 2nd OP of D. Gray Man anime and, yeah, I saw it there, but I was actually not aware which part of manga had pointed that fact out.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I'm not exactly sure I saw it mentioned in the Manga ( Although reading 100+ chapters in the span of a fews days you tend to miss things) I'm pretty sure I saw it in Vol. 9 though, in the extras it shows everyone's rooms including Kanda's and I'm pretty sure the Hourglass was sitting on a table across from his bed.

Hi! Total lurker here. 8D I'm pretty sure the hourglass thing comes from the first reverse novel, second chapter. Timcanpi has translations, if you want.

I may be wrong but I think the hourglass has never been shown in the manga. The first time it was mentioned it was in one of the Reverse novels ("The village where the witch lives" or something like that...). That story was shown in two filler episodes of the anime, thus why the hourglass gets more attention in the anime than in the manga.

But I'm not sure it is explicity said that the lotus is connected to his life force (I have yet to read the story, so correct if I'm wrong). The most specific information we get about that is that flashback with Komui during the fight with Skinn. I think people just put two and two together and came up with that answer; in truth, I don't think it has been clearly answered.

It's Kanda's own personal mystery, like Lavi's eye-patch and we can only hope Hoshino will decide to uncover it soon ^_^

Do you know what were the exact episode from which the part about the lotus was shown?

And, yeah! Lavi's eye patch. I actually thought Hoshino will reveal that together with Dick's appearance (old Lavi) in their fight together against the Noahs inside the ark. But it seems like Hoshino's too bored to have story telling to the kids XDD

Episodes 34 and 35. Best episodes about Kanda, imo. But be prepared because the hints will kill you; nothing is explained, it's just Kanda being his usual mysterious self and making us want to strangle him to tell the whole story XD

Yeah, I was kinda hopping that would happen too... '-_- But it was good enough to see *anything* about Lavi, so I'm not complaining XD Still, the curiosity about these two things is killing me O_O

Like I said up there *points* episodes 34 and 35 (before anyone thinks I'm a geek who knows all the episodes by heart, I checked my DVD's >_> <_<). Really cool episodes about Kanda ^_^ I'm not a hardcore fan of him but I thoroughly enjoyed them =D Best part is at the end when Kanda meets Daisya XP I love his line there =D

I was wondering about that too the other day O_O Maybe it's a samurai thing? 'Cause there's this samurai girl in Nabari no Ou who wears one just like it, except in pink... I really don't think it's relevant, though XD

Though it could always have something to do with the "someone" he has to meet before he dies...
