To be honest, I like all the characters. XD They all have their unique charms. However, if I had to pick one... And only one...
It's a tie between Allen and Lavi. Allen, because he's just a sweet, caring boy. And he's British! *shot*Not to mention how awesome he looks with long hair. Ahahaha, I'm not superficial. Really. >>;
Me loves Lavi. Because he is handsome, so angsty and because LavixAllen is canon *___* No, seriously, this character is really interesting to work on because of his intricate personality (the fact that he is supposed not to take part in the war or get bonds, opposed to the moment he enters the Black Order; he is mentally tortured, and that is really something I like in him). He also is the kind of person I would want in my bed as a friend because Allen can rely on him, to my mind.
Cross. His devil-may-care attitude is hilarious, and I love its contrast with everyone else and how they take EVERYTHING so seriously. Sure, okay, life and death situation--what else are you gonna do but go drinking with the ladies? &hearts
Kanda. I like the brooding, darker characters with sad or complicated pasts. Secrets are also nice. His relationship with Lavi cracks me up, and the rivalry he has with Allen is perfect. How else could someone so unorthodox interact with someone so "innocent".
It also helps that Kanda is voiced by Sakurai Takahiro, one of my favorite seiyu.
Edit: Oh, and let us not forget the kick ass factor. He's so freaking powerful without even trying. Tee hee.
As scarlet said (we seem to agree on a lot of things, girl XP), I love all the characters for very different reasons. However, having to choose only one Lavi takes the prize.
I guess my reasons have already been voiced by shirenai: intricate personality, internal struggle between Bookman and Exorcist, his lost of innocence at such a young age, the whole several persona thing, the angst (admit it, people, we love the angst XD)... I just find him so interesting XP You just never know what you'll get from him. Having said this... I hate his flirty attitude, though XP.
But Kanda is also a close second *_* And Allen and Lenalee and Reever and Cloud and Komui and Miranda... DGM just has too many good characters *sigh*
I like Jasdero. I like how he's crazy, but in a happy way; androgynous, but in a scary way; a complete moron, but malicious and evil; and freaky, but somehow adorable. He's entertaining. I love how he obliviously shares information that makes himself and Devit look bad, reacts to being unable to find Cross by stealing a chicken and wearing it as a hat, and has extreme emotional reactions to everything.
And of course I like his twin bond with Devit.
I tend to like obscure characters and villains. Other characters in this manga that I'm fond of include Devit, Rhode, Miranda, Bak, Sachiko, Tiki, Komui, and Link...
I like the fact that he does not need everyone's approval to do his job, and that even though he is rash and crude most of the time, he is realistic and knows what needs to be done and when.
And yet, with all his dark moods, he can also be kind and protective of others. A bit cliche with the lone-wolf act, but the lotus curse, the fact that he is actually afraid of the effects, and his plunging into death-situations so carelessly, is very interesting for me.
I remember reading the character when he bad-talks the finders (almost at the beginning of the story) and thinking: "He's such a jerk, and ungrateful. I mean, if several finders don't want to work with him is understandable! If finders do end up quitting working for the Order because of him, that would be so...!!!"
*blink* Oh. OHHHHH. That is so Kanda. He does work best alone, hm?
I'd have to say Lavi and Kanda.. they've both got very complex personalities (or maybe that's just the fangirl in me). I like the way Lavi seems so carefree and cheerful at the beginning, and then we find out he's not supposed to get too involved because of being the Bookman heir, and how it conflicts with his instincts to protect his friends. It's very nice that his character gets revealed to be more intricate, and he's not just the joker he seemed like at the beginning (braiding Kanda's hair and drawing on Allen's face), and he's actually got alot of reasons not to be so happy all the time, but he acts that way anyway.
I really like how Kanda puts the mission above everything else, like at Allen's first mission he was all "If you jeopardize the mission I will not save you" *__* he's very clear about what needs to be done, and he doesn't get sidetracked by being nice. And despite it all, even though he seems really mean to the finders, he protects them when they're with him on a mission. ("You're in my way." "Huh?" *shoots akuma*)
Also, it doesn't hurt that Kanda is really pwnsome and hot, and Lavi's really cute. ^^; ♥
CAUSE MY GOD AWW SHE'S SO CUUUUUTE ♥♥♥ I WANT HER AS MY LITTLE SISTER OR SOMETHING AAH. e__e Most people find her creepy, but I donno. I have a 'badass-complex' apparently XD; I always adore the villains (which is why my following favorite characters are Jasdevi, Tyki, Earl, etc), especially if they are sadistic and wrapped in cuteness haha! It's kind of weird, because I'm a happyjoy flower-frolic type girl who can't even watch horror movies ufu >__>;.
Aaanyway mainly I love Road because she's a combination of SEVERAL things I find absolutely adorable, and what can I say, I love cute things. XD
Oh, my God. When I first saw Road on the anime, I was drawn to her and horrified at the same time. She's so creepy, in a nasty/cute/child-like kind of way. :)
So far, I like Kanda and Allen, but I think I like Kanda more. I like how he is, careless about others and just have that kind of attitude, and even made him funny sometimes when Allen and Lavi bothers him. ^^
Yuu Kanda is my favorite character and, in fact, the only true reason for which I follow DGM at all (the neverending string of fights tend to bore me out of most shounen titles, I'm afraid). His character has been criticized by some readers for being too stereotypical, but I surely have a soft spot for bad-tempered, kick-ass bishounens.
It is true that his character, when we do not go further, can seem stereotypical. But the more we progress in the story, the more his personality appears as intricate, a bit tortured but still interesting. Kanda is definitely a character who has to be known thoroughly before being able to get a real opinion about him.
My fangirl-ish side agrees; bad-tempered and anti-heroical characters win... ~ *flooding mode off*
