Chapter 167 (SPOILERS)

Stumbled across the information from Japanese blogs and 2ch, apparently this week's chapter is out early!

Chapter 167 Ange (Angel)

This is based on my crappy Japanese:

- Continuing from the last chapter, Allen was still stunned at the revelation. Cross slapped him out of it.
- Allen asked Cross when was the 14th's memories implanted into him, and Cross's answer (guess?) was "probably before the 14th died". Apparently even Cross did not know the details, and Allen was not amused.
- The 14th wanted to kill the Earl, and as a result, he and Mana fled from the Noahs. The 14th and the Noahs tried to kill each other.
- For the 14th, "when" and "who" did not matter, Allen (who happened to be nearby) was chosen to be the vessel by pure chance.
- Cross broke the bad news: The 14th's memories would gradually invade the host, and Allen would eventually turned into the 14th.
- Allen wondered... did Mana really love him? Or was 14th the one Mana loved?
- According to Cross, Mana began acting strange since the day the 14th died. Cross could not tell if Mana had lost some of his memories or not.
- Cross gave Allen a hug ;_; (while complaining that from now on he could not make fun of Tiedoll for mother-henning his students)
- Cross dropped the bomb: "So what would you do if I tell you, that when you become the 14th, you will have to kill your important person/people?"
- Linali and Johnny fell asleep while waiting for Allen. Linali woke up and saw Allen's swollen face, but Allen told her he was okay with a forced smile. Linali noticed his dark expression, but Allen said, "It was nothing." <- Allen was using the polite form of speech with Linali...

Oh Allen.

You know things are bad when Cross gives you a hug and you're not even *insert attractive female here*. :(

;____; I can always count on this manga for the depressing revelations.

Thanks for the summary!

It sounds like, but I hope Hoshino would pull something out of her hat to surprise us. She always seems to deliver just left of what we expect. XD

Listening to the Musician's Score while reading this= very bad idea
But what does Cross mean by killing your important person/people?

I think it has to do with the fact if the 14th is revived "Allen" won't be there any longer. Thus leaving only the Noah who may or may not be hunted by the Order.

Given that he was using polite speech with Rinali... I'm guessing that's how Allen took it. Not only does he have to deal with losing his sense of self, but also the possibility of attacking someone in the Order.

As if Allen's life wasn't horrible enough. |D;

It will probably be the doll effect. The 14th waking up and thus slowly erasing everything that is Allen to make room for the other soul to be in there. The only reason Cross helping it along is because the 14th is a Noah that wants to kill the Earl, giving them an advantage for the final push.

;__; Definitely! But it sounds like Cross consoled him about that... if I read that correctly, Cross was saying that Mana had lost his memories of his brother/the 14th, and therefore genuinely cared for Allen.

Allen needs so much more than a hug from Cross right now. D:

I think for a selfless person like Allen the meaning might be more toward having to harm those the Order sends to kill him. (Though to us readers losing Allen would be just as, if not more, painful)

oh man
poor, poor Allen ;A;

Though you also have to look at a few other things on this as well. Allen has pretty much had his entire world being made into a giant lie, though that might help the living weapon mentality, and the fact that if this happens he can't save Akuma anymore. Because, hopefully, if he goes and becomes the 14th he'll not be able to use his Innocence anymore. Which takes away every reason for why Allen is even alive at this point in the story.

Even though in a better way of doing this, Allen would give himself up for this resurrection if it was for the ending of the war, I don't see him really accepting this even with his selflessness because his walking forward will cease and thus his promise to Mana is useless.

Of course, I didn't mean that Allen would just accept all this. Mana and Cross possibly seeing him as only the 14th followed by Noah genes conflicting with Innocence. But you can already see him distancing himself from his friends (to protect them?).

eah, it definitely won't be that easy

Interesting point there.
I know wikipedia isn't all that reliable, but Tyki supposedly awakened as the knight form after being exorcised by Allen's sword. And Tyki in that state wouldn't hesitate to kill his human friends.
Though if the 14th didn't kill Mana the first awakening, there's a chance that Allen won't try to kill everyone?

Cross could not tell if Mana had lost some of his memories or not.
- Cross gave Allen a hug ;_;

I wonder if Mana screwed up the memory implanting into allen by passing some of his own or destroying them or doing so knowingly to start a new life to forget the 14th and start life anew with allen..

If you guys recall correctly the 14th was against the Noah and wanted to kill the earl..so this noah thing can't be all bad since these are in line with allen's goals after all
