Chapter 167 (SPOILERS)

Stumbled across the information from Japanese blogs and 2ch, apparently this week's chapter is out early!

Chapter 167 Ange (Angel)

This is based on my crappy Japanese:

- Continuing from the last chapter, Allen was still stunned at the revelation. Cross slapped him out of it. 
- Allen asked Cross when was the 14th's memories implanted into him, and Cross's answer (guess?) was "probably before the 14th died". Apparently even Cross did not know the details, and Allen was not amused.
- The 14th wanted to kill the Earl, and as a result, he and Mana fled from the Noahs. The 14th and the Noahs tried to kill each other.
- For the 14th, "when" and "who" did not matter, Allen (who happened to be nearby) was chosen to be the vessel by pure chance.
- Cross broke the bad news: The 14th's memories would gradually invade the host, and Allen would eventually turned into the 14th.
- Allen wondered... did Mana really love him? Or was 14th the one Mana loved?
- According to Cross, Mana began acting strange since the day the 14th died. Cross could not tell if Mana had lost some of his memories or not.
- Cross gave Allen a hug ;_; (while complaining that from now on he could not make fun of Tiedoll for mother-henning his students)
- Cross dropped the bomb: "So what would you do if I tell you, that when you become the 14th, you will have to kill your important person/people?"
- Linali and Johnny fell asleep while waiting for Allen. Linali woke up and saw Allen's swollen face, but Allen told her he was okay with a forced smile. Linali noticed his dark expression, but Allen said, "It was nothing." <- Allen was using the polite form of speech with Linali...

Oh Allen.

I think it has to do with the fact if the 14th is revived "Allen" won't be there any longer. Thus leaving only the Noah who may or may not be hunted by the Order.

Cross's comment is up to speculation.

My first thought was:
If I remember correctly, Skin ordered the Akuma to kill the other workers right after he awakened as a Noah. So killing everyone around them could be the Noah's instinct; to sever their ties to their former selves and the human race. Road never talked about her biological family, and truth be told, I would not be surprised if she murdered them all.
But then again, Tyki did not kill his friends, and the 14th did not kill his older brother. Although those two might be exceptions because Tyki was not fully awakened, and the 14th was special.

So... I don't know XD Just my two cents.

I wonder if Mana screwed up the memory implanting into allen by passing some of his own or destroying them or doing so knowingly to start a new life to forget the 14th and start life anew with allen..

If you guys recall correctly the 14th was against the Noah and wanted to kill the earl..so this noah thing can't be all bad since these are in line with allen's goals after all

It could be. We still don't know why the Earl wanted to destroy the world. Yes, the 14th was against the Noah but why, we'll have to find out later I guess.

Ok, I need time to let this sink in, again XD (I'm saying that a whole lot about this manga lately XP)

But I'm glad this is bringing more problems instead of going into Gary-Stu-Super-Powered-Noah-Exorcist-Allen... My trust in Hoshino pays off yet again!

...But I'm not glad, GLAD! Because... Poor Allen ;-; Doubting whether the only father he ever knew and the person for whom he always continued on forwards actually loved him or what he saw of the 14th, having to face the most likely deterioration of his self, being turned into a NOAH ('cause although they're still kinda human and Allen was willing to save Tyki, he also knows how insane/sadistic/evil they can be...), the possibility of hurting his friends, everyone's suspicions... And he's already distancing himself from the others... I REALLY don't want to think about what will happen to the Allen we all know and love and what consequences this will have in his relationships with everyone...

He needs WAY more than a hug from Cross. Maybe everyone (fans included XP) should line up and give him hugs/kisses/food! Though I doubt any of that will help...

Really loving where the story is going and, though this is speculation, when Cross talked about killing "that person" did anyone else beside me think, possibly, Kanda as Kanda "can't die until he finds -that person-"?

Oh wow. I think I can visualize the multiple chapters of angst approaching. Hope Hoshino will not make Allen choose between killing off some of the exorcists (or miraculously resurrected!Mana) or, eh... something. The whole Allen!14th-by-chance plot turn was a huge surprise to me because I've always thought that Mana was the 14. And Allen is just cool by default, not because he's a Noah... OMG, this is still so bizarre. Oh Hoshino-sensei, why do you choose to torture us so. :)

the thing is.. maybe Allen will ask Lavi to kill him if he notice that Allen its becoming a Noah..(Since Lavi and Cross are the only ones who know the secret). Im sure that there will be some kind of promise between those guys...

I wonder how Allen's sword will tie into this. It has at least some effect on Noah, but after what happened to Tyki, exactly what effect is unclear.

Even so, poor Allen. ;_; Would have been nice if Cross pointed this out before he made a ton of friends!

My prediction is an angstfest, followed by either Allen or Lavi spilling the beans, and Lenalee beating some sense into Allen to make him stop distancing himself.

This definitely surprised me, well, this chapter more because this questions the beliefs Allen chose to follow (at least that's what I want to think, though there are opportunities where it could have been the agenda of the 14th...).

Gah! Allen... and as much as distancing is a instinct alongside his selflessness... I can see a lot of tumult from the Order and then.. and then.. some division miight be formed. @__@; Oh man...

Mmm... although Mana's love is questionable... didn't Mana and Allen make up their own language (and didn't that coincide with the keys of the Musician's Score)? I wonder.. would that be seen as a tangible sign of love or would that be another presented object of proof of Mana's lingering affection for the 14th? @__@;...

Who knows if they even made it up? It could have been something Mana and the 14th made up together, that Mana taught Allen.

Just finished reading the update. Cross' hug is a total win.
And I was still confused at first. I thought Mana is the 14th. LOL

So Mana implanted 14th's memory to poor Allen. Why's our cute protagonist always being bullied that much guuh. *Good thing Kanda's not around, for the moment*

I think the 14th was the clown allen met..and his innocence took the form of one for a reason i believe..thus when the crown clown possesses him..i think it;s actually the 14th..

This could mean there could be a chance that the Noah and Innocence could live side by side in allen..even allen as a human form and 14th as a noah form? That could even be a message to the ending where the noah and exorcist fight side by side to fight the final incoming threat for an epic ending
