Speculation on the Crow's Banishing Technique

***Warning! Chapter 181 Spoilers Below!!!***

Please discuss! :D

Obviously a Similar Technique
Link and Madarao's technique to banish akuma are really similar. Both of their arms used for the technique show a lot of muscular tension in pages 14 of chapter 177 (Link) and 10 of chapter 181 (Madarao). Also, they both seem to banish akuma through a vortex, (Think Miroku's Wind Tunnel from Inuyasha.), in pages 15 of chapter 177 (Link) and 13 of chapter 181 (Madarao). Although, Link never finished his "Secret Spell" to banish the level two because he was turned into a doll. Thus, it's difficult to be completely certain that he was also using the same vortex technique as Madarao. Though, I'm pretty sure that Link is using a technique to banish akuma that is very similar, if not the same, as Madarao's. I just think that Link's ability/technique isn't as developed and powerful as Madarao's...yet. ^w^

How Could Link Develop His Strength?
Anyway, Madarao's left arm transformed like a parasitic innocence on page 11 in chapter 181 (not to mention that he appears to be licking his lips O_o). He even told it to "invoke" in the page's last frame. Link did not "invoke" his arm and it did not transformed very much or at all in chapter 177. Since Crows don't use innocence, maybe Madorao upgraded his black magic vortex technique with some sort of fake paracitic innocence developed by the Science Department, has had more practice with black magic, or had surgery. XDD If Link hopes to defeat a level 3 maybe he'll have to upgrade like Madarao did and get a fake paracititic innocence, or maybe it takes more intensive training and learning new spells?

The Difference Between an Exorcist and a Crow
If it is a fake paracitic innocence/something similar and all the Crows are doing is banishing the akuma and not puryfiying the soul within so it can go to Heaven, then maybe that's the reason why the order sends exorcists out on missions and not Crows. Only exorcists can get rid of the akuma and save the souls trapped within them. The Crows might be banishing both the akuma and the souls they carry, and thus they can't give the souls any salvation. In fact, maybe those souls are forever lost in the Crow's banishing vortext...Yet, if that's true, that would make a Crow a very suitable fighter for a level 4 which do not contain souls anymore. So, maybe our lip-licking vacuum-vortexing Crow, Madarao, can just suck up that level 4 and it will all be over...but that would be too anticlimactic, wouldn't it?

Counter Argument on the Above
Though, maybe they are not the same technique and just have similarities. After all, Madarao invoked his weapon and said "Devouring Machine" and "Creation Hole" on page 12 in chapter 181. Link did not invoke his spell that appeared to be a similar vortex in chapter 177, and he called it "Secret Spell". If they're using different names and one Crow has to invoke with a fully transformed arm and the other does not, then maybe it isn't the same technique they're using after all. Or could it just be that different Crows call their vortext's different things but they are essentially the same technique used against akumas? Or could they be different because of the different levels of strength and ability between Link an Madarao? The different levels of strength could also explain why Madarao's hand transformed into a much more black-hole vacume like drain while Link's didn't appear to have taken on such an exagerated form. Thus, this explains why Madarao's hand was more powerful and effective at sucking in a level three than Link's.

Other Commentary on Chapter 181
Anyone having trouble pronouncing Madarao's name or think it's a little awkward? It doesn't seem to roll off of my tounge very well when I say his name. =_=; And Madarao needs to come vaccume my floor, because there have been a lot of akuma dust bunnies running around lately. XDD I just thought of this theory and this is the first time I've written a critique on a manga chapter in my life, but I hope someone found it interesting to read. ^_~ Also, I have not read the entire manga or seen the entire anime, and all of this information and images came from OneManga.com's newly released scanlation. So, I apologize if there are any serious holes in my theory due to my lack of knowledge on D.gray-man, the possiblity of any mistranslations in the scanlation, or if my argument was completely obvious and everyone kind of knew this already. Though, I had fun speculating so much on just two black crows. *caw caw* Okay, yeah...That was kinda corny! XDD

Comments are appreciated!

Hahaha, I can see it. But like you said, Link is much more polite, I think. :D
