D.Gray Man English Dub

Okay, I honestly don't know if this has been posted (or the fact that I'm so late ;A;)  but has anyone seen the english dub of D.Gray Man?
If so, I'd like to hear what you  think about it :D!

Yeah, honestly, that was my biggest issue with the dub. The different voice sounds and everything I can totally deal with, it just takes getting used to.

But short stack? Unacceptable.

The dub is okay, I heard Kanda, In my opinion it's not really that good, You can tell they watched the original jap version and based the English cast off of that sound

I didn't buy it, (poor student is poor), but I watched what is released so far online. (If you haven't seen it yet, I can give you a link to the place where I watched it...)

It was alright, at first I was a little horrified, because I have watched the entire anime in Japanese, so the English came as a shock.But as I kept watching I got used to it.

I was also used to all the voice actors in different roles, so hearing Travis as Kanda was a little weird for me. (lol he sounds like a body builder or something, because he makes Kanda's voice so low. )

Oh noes, poor student! D: As one who was lucky enough to snag a copy, I have no choice but to agree with you: I ADORE Travis, but his voice is entirely too low to play an eighteen-year-old, no matter what a BAMF said eighteen-year-old may be. And Todd as Allen is endearing at times, but I really don't like it. Srsly can't stand it. J. Michael Tatum's Komui is really, really good though! His voice really fits having to go from goofy-assed screaming to expounding on some serious plot development. :3 I promised myself that I was going to watch every episode's dub at least once, which I have, but I've had no compulsion to do it again. I'm just too attached to the Japanese! *w*

I honestly really don't like the dub. The acting is mediocre and the voices don't really seem to fit most of them. But the anime itself was kinda subpar and I don't watch it so I guess it really isn't so big of a deal.

as much as I love Travis, he really did go toooooooooo deeeeeeeep with Kanda. I cried on the inside as I switched it to Japanese.

I'm glad I'm not the only one (though I'm not surprised) who really is only bothered by Travis' role as Kanda. He's a very talented guy and fits almost all the roles he's cast in, but this time? Really, not so much. He makes Kanda sound like a 30 year-old body builder. While Allen's English voice isn't quite what I would envision it, when compared to his Japanese VA, it's an equal match.

They did a very good quality job; it's just unfortunate about Kanda. Definitely pick it up when you have a chance, for having the series on DVD beats fansubs any time.

Also, the replacement of "shortstack" for beansprout? If they did that because they felt non-fans wouldn't make the connection, I'll be PO'ed. Really, Kanda, you have to make things so difficult--but yeah, otherwise fine!

I agree with the other comments when it comes to Kanda. I wanted to scream when I heard Kanda's voice. Does. Not. Work. I like Travis as well but noooooooo.
I was seriously ticked that they replaced Beansprout with Shortstack (KandaAllen fan so...><#).
I do find Allen's voice a little annoying (but I think I'll get used to it ^^').
I had the same kind of reaction as closeincline. All in all it is hard to watch it in English after watching the entire series in Japanese. I've grown so attach to their Japanese voices~.

i havent been able to find the dvd, so i havent watched it, but i do not have high hopes for it and i love the japanese voices too much, their voices are the ones i picture with the characters, so i think ill hate the dub anyway. :x

I think it means a short stack of 1-3 pancakes? At the very least, I'm pretty sure I've heard it used when referring to pancakes before. XD So now Allen's a short stack at the IHOP? Awkward..O_o

The voices aren't great, but I can get used to them. Kanda makes me want to crack up though, and I like his English voice actor in other stuff.

That said...where has the 'beansprout' gone?! Seriously, I miss it the most. D=

Well, I dislike the anime period, but I still kinda hoped that maybe if they got a better voice actor for Lavi I *might* not care so much, but...
I dunno, I never watched the beginning of the Japanese version, did it always sound so... cheesy?
I seriously could'nt get past episode 4 I was disgusted by the script!
(I also hated how they changed everything in the beginning, but that's not Viz's fault)

Anyway in terms of voice actors. I like Allen's voice for when he's freaking out and stuff. xD I think it's done really well and I love it. But somehow, when he's serious his voice doesn't sound nearly as good.

As pretty much everyone else said, Kanda's voice sucks (And by that, I mean it doesn't fit at all).

I was disappointed with Lavi's voice. I was hoping that Jason would be able to do a better job, seeing how much I loved his role in the FMA movie. But, meh.
I guess I like it a bit more than his Japanese voice, but it's still not the Lavi voice that I had in my head. It's just too childish sounding, and that irks me to no end. ( ;____; ) Dammit.

*sigh* Okay, happy thoughts now.
I *love* Road's voice. Some think it's too deep, but I think it's *perfect*.
I also love Cross' voice in a weird way. He sounded a bit drunk, and it was almost like he was slurring, but... somehow it worked in my head, and it made me laugh~
Although I think it would sound a bit better if it was more like the voice Chris used for Vegeta, and less like the one he uses for Armstrong.

Umm... I guess I hadn't heard too much of Komui's voice but it didn't really impress me? Maybe if I heard more.
I like Johnny's voice. It's no longer nasally sounded, and it's a bit deeper, and I like that much better than his Japanese voice.

Lenalee would be better if her voice actor was more consistent. She sounds nice most of the time, but then other times she sounds waaayy too much like Hunny, who looks/sounds like a child, and that just makes me go, 'Wut?'

I need to check out this dub. But if I'm being honest, I wasn't that fond of the anime to begin with so I'm doubting the dub will affect that. But then again, I was pretty used to the Japanese cast mainly because I've heard in many, many different shows.

I've seen some clips from it.

...It sucks. Wrong voices, wrong accents, wrong pronunciations. (Example: Kanda can't even say the name of his own sword right.) There are a few decent voices, but those are outweighed by the bad.

But, listen to it yourself and make up your own mind. Who knows, maybe you'll like it.

You know what I had a problem with? and your gonna laugh your fucking ass off at me is that they still somehow managed to get Vic in the dub. << Can't that man not be in something and be okay with it? >>

Other then that, I have a big problem with the pronunciation of stuff.

I hate Lenalee's voice, because not only does it sound like she's going out for smokes between scenes she also sounds like she's some sort of stuck up snob and that's not the type of character that Lenalee is.

Komurin, Komui, Lenalee... And that's just naming a few.

I hate how every time I look at Allen I hear Hikaru Hitachiin coming out of his mouth. << Though It's really starting to grow on me to be honest.

And Kanda? Don't get me started on Travis. I love the guy he's totally awesome but he totally went the wrong way in his voice. ><

All in all the dub is good if you want a good laugh?

I really dislike Kanda's voice in the English dub by Travis, but at the same time, it's so funny. "Mighty Moogen!" XDD I think other roles such as Lieutenant Mustang suit Travis Willingham better. Allen, Lenalee, and Lavi sound passable, and Komui was decent. Jerry the chef was alright too, he just didn't sound like what I expected. ^w^

Just be glad Funimation didn't make Timcampy speak, guys! Although I don't think they'd ever go that far. ^_^; Also what I don't understand is why the English dub for Claymore is okay and sometimes pretty good and D.Gray-man's seems badly cast overall so far.

Ok so it's not too bad - but I find Allen's dub voice really annoying (it so should have been with and English accent ;-;) I do like Lenalee's voice I think it sounds almost perfect but I agree wholeheartedly that Kanda's voice is too low - he sounds so old!!
Also some of the pronunciation is way off (I like the British way of saying names anyway compared to American, but I'm English so that’s bias XD) but come on, Kommooie??? The hell?? And Allen’s bit at the end of each ep now just makes the odd pronunciation of Akuma so obvious.

You know what's really sad? Because I'm in Japan, due to licensing restrictions, not effing kidding, I can't see the dubbed video on that website. T_T And hell no I ain't buying it if I can't hear it first.

(They also don't let me use AOL video half the time and some youtube channels are closed. And now playlist.com does it to me too! No more Britney oh noes!) WTH man. I wanted to hear Allen's weird voice without screams of outraged fans at a convention. (Only video I found so far. Guess the dub isn't popular?)

The way Komui is said (Komooi) as well as Akuma (Akooma) kinda kills. As well as Beansprout being changed to short stack. I mean, if they were able to keep it the same in FMA, why not in DGM? Beansprout and short stack have the same amount of syllables anywho. And "MIGHTY MYOOGEN UNSHEATE!"..? LOLtastic. Can't get enough of that xDDD

I actually like the Dub. *shrugs* Everyone has their opinions on it. I don't think it's horrible, and there is room for improvement on certin voices, But overall I like it. Yes the English voices take some time getting used to, (especially if you have watched the episodes in Japanese) But it's not that bad. (to me anyway)

I tried to suffocate myself with my pillow when I first heard Kanda's voice mainly due to the fact that it was SO BAD that it was just THAT F**KING HARILIOUS (the other reason was that looking at the dubs at 2'o clock on a school night is NOT a good idea)

Now I keep on thinking that one day Kanda will walk into the cafeteria and say- "The day I become General, all Exorcist personnals shall be forced to EAT SOBA!"

And Cross' voice...WTF!?

I mean I heard of 'trying to get in character' but did this guy ACTUALLY stumble into the recording booth with a giant hangover and was like- "Okay. Let's get this sh*t over with. Aww man, can someone get me some painkillers?"
