*peeks in*

Thanks to a recent discussion concerning akumas and Kanda, another question popped up.

From where did that akuma 4 come from?

The former akuma 4 was killed inside the former Black Order after one awesome fight, terminated by Lenalee's and Allen's joined forces and nothing was left behind of him. But the akuma 4 shown at Timothy's orphanage?

 Weren't akuma 4 quite rare? Weren't they akumas never seen/never written down in historical events until that very moment making of that one, the black order's one, unique? Or does it means that despite everyone thought that akuma was destroyed it actually still lived, regenerated and went back on business? (Ha! Terminator, I have seen you too many times)

Or does it mean now that because our heroes are becoming stronger these akumas will become frequent? ;_;

Thank you for your time!

Have fun <3

I wondered about that, too~ but I figured that it was a new one that had been leveled up offscreen. It would be interesting if that first Level Four had survived...

This just popped into my head at the moment, so I haven't really thought it through, but what if there are a group of Level Fours waiting in the wings somewhere, having been purposely kept out of sight all this time?
Taken from the chapter 158 scanlation, with the Earl speaking: "They still believe that the Akuma are nothing more than killing machines. They have no idea what their evolution truly represents. I'd like to keep it that way..."
Ignoring that it still looks like an ugly, toast-headed baby, the Level Four has some symbolic imagery to it, yes? Could it be that, up until an unexpected evolution, Level Fours had been hidden away for that reason? In case someone started wondering why it looked like some twisted sort of angel...
It seems almost too cautious, but it would explain why there was a second one so suddenly. *shrug*

I have wondered a bit about the significance of some of the symbolism, if any, concerning the level 4's appearance. Because it does look pretty weird, and it really does look like a really messed up angel or pregnant women...
And that line of the Earl's really bugs me as well... I mean, I guess that's just one more question we will have to wait to have answered, but that really is a cryptic line, you know? I bet it will just be some crazy plot twist. But I can't really match up the level 4's form to the true purpose of their evolution.

I figure -- especially taking the Earl's line into account -- that there has to be some sort of reason for that particular method of 'birthing' a Lv4 and its end appearance, aside from just looking visually interesting, because angels and pregnancy are pretty heavy images; I mean, I guess Hoshino could have done it just to look interesting, but I would feel disappointed.

I totally agree on the crazy plot twist -- to me, the line alone was surprising. I wonder how soon we'll get more insight into this once the manga's back.

Like I said, the idea just popped into my head, so it wasn't really thought through. |D If there could possibly be a Level 5, since both Lv3 and Lv4 Akuma seem to have consistent forms, I wonder what that would look like (and if its appearance would be as charged as a Lv4's)...?

I thought I remember reading in the scans that the akuma said that it was the same one from before and they they shouldn't expect it to be killed that easily, but I just went back and looked for it, and I couldn't find to so maybe I don't know what I am talking about. But I thought that it was the same one from before.
I don't really understand how it could be though, since that last one looked pretty smashed to bits.

And I have noticed that they akuma that they fight seem to be getting stronger. I mean, when was the last time we saw one of those level ones, ya know?

I figured a lot of the level ones were getting eaten/cannibalised by the level twos to get stronger... then maybe the level threes eat the level twos and so on until they become level 4? o_O; ...'cause wouldn't it take like several human massacres for an akuma to become a level 4? I'm sure the Order would have noticed that x_x;

Well I dunno really... I'm just pulling ideas out of my ass here. I'll wait for someone else to provide some real info. ^o^

I like [livejournal.com profile] tamariskw's response, but other than that, I just say "... shounen manga." |D

Well, it would be kind of boring watching them fighting level ones now, considering Kanda could slice them without his innocence activated before and they've all gotten a lot stronger since then. :)

I think -- maybe from both of several human massacres and evolution from Level 3 to be level 4.
Be cause you can see from manga and anime, The first level 4 which we've seen it was from the several human massacre in the black order.
And the others, if the level ones can evolution to be level twos and level threes, I think they can evolution to be level fours too.
Though Allen and other exorcist killed much akumas (especially, Edo), but I think the others (which noit live in Edo) can survived to evolution to be level fours.

The way I see it it's like a video game. Allen fights monster, beats monster. Allen fights stronger monster, powers up innocence, beats monster etc. Noahs are like boss fights. Flashbacks are cut scenes. In most video games once you get to a certain level of baddies you don't usually go back. The level four get created from huge massacres, and that's why the Noah are pulling political strings to cause wars. While the Order seems to be a global effort they can't possible investigate all the wars everywhere and take a side, much less figure out if the Earl is involved. My guess is L4's come from battlefields and are hoarded away until there's a reason to send them out. The skulls probably do that part.
