=\ I love Obata's work but now he seems small minded to me by make such a fuss over a little star that looks like something he did before... which he probably stole from somewhere else ..actually. and don't get me started about the second picture, because it is absolutely ridiculous.

Hmm... Well I don't remember any Obito in YnM. But it's been so long since I read it. ;;;

Well, I think basing your characters off another's is fine, as long as you turn that character into your own (I'm assuming you mean Penguin=the earl. In which case, there is definitely a resemblance, but I think the earl has become his own character).
I know I've based my characters off other people's. But I make sure to turn them into my own, and I don't see a problem with it.

Hmm, now excuse me as a try to find more on this Obito guy. xD

Ohhh, I was wondering why I couldn't find this Obito guy. ( ;_; )

But, I dunno, to me, the only resemblance those two have is the long, black hair and Katana's. And how many of THOSE do you see. xD
I guess I just don't really fit their personalities together. Oriya seems more talkative, and maybe kinder in some ways. *shrugs*

I don't really think he looked like oriya either, Oriya had more 'flowing' hair, no fringe and smoked all the time.
There's only so many things you can do to make your characters look different in manga as you're drawing basic faces, so characters with same hair colour/length etc are bound to come up time and again.
Plus Oriya was way sexier and pranced around in kimonos all day with his hookers.
