Small question

Hi everyone, just a little question for my fanfic!

Does anyone approximately know when D.Gray-Man's timeline is situated? I know it is during the 19th century, rather at the end but... I would need a little bit more precise year (and I think it can be seen on Mana's grave, for his birth but I am not sure and do not remember when it appears...

Oh god, in one of the earlier episodes it has 1820 on one tombstone and then 1881 on another in the later episodes.

Personally I have... absolutely no idea but I'd sure as hell love to know too.

I would tend to say that even Hoshino herself does not really know when to set her story XD

This is merely my assumption, but in the manga, when people were ranting about Crowley being a vampire, I'm assuming that its around the time that Dracula came out, although that would conflict... Considering that Dracula came out in 1897, and vampire lore has always been around, but I'm guessing between mid 1880s to the mid 1890s. Somewhere in that timeline, but don't quote me on it! It's merely my assumption. xD

Oh that sounds good to me, and it makes sense...

The thing is that I have to assume too (I actually need a precise year to know which tsar was ruling the country, and the most probable ones are Alexander II (1855-1881), Alexander III (1881-1894) and Nicolas II (1894-1917). It's not that important but I wanted to be as realistic as possible).

No one knows for sure. It's supposed to be the very end of the 19th century though (in Japanese it's described as 仮想19世紀末 which specifically refers to the tail end of the century, rather than just the latter half; this is the only definitive date Hoshino has ever given). My personal guess is it's at least 1890, possibly later by the time Allen enters the Black Order.

I've been wandering about this too. My guess is probably around 1880-1890 too.

But because of Cyrill Kamelot there's supposed to be a war raging on the latest DGM timeline, isn't it? Anyone knows of a war between countries in the end of 19th century?

And does anyone know what season it was in the manga when DGM stared and the current season in the manga? It seemed like a year have passed, but there was no Christmas signs or anything (the Order is Christian so shouldn't there be any sign?).
