Maria.

An observation - wondered if anyone else noticed it, and what it might mean.

Did anyone else notice that Maria appears to have a fake limb? Looks vaguely like a ball-joint doll's arm. So this makes me wonder if she's really a corpse and not a doll of some sort, or if something happened to her while she was alive? It's funny it's the left arm, too...

hah its true!!! good observation!!! :D
I guess its a corspe w/o the left hand and so they have a alternative hand place in?

Its interesting :D

Prosthetic is my guess - sort of like Cloud's leg from earlier, though it seems Hoshino changed her mind about that.

Friend of mine has a relative with a prosthetic - for battle uniform only, look at her right leg - there are the band attachments to the boots - those are what are most commonly used for prosthetic.

And no clue why a corpse would need one. The doll theory could work. Also, Hoshino just does stuff too.

Well, it IS plausible that General Nine has a prosthetic leg. She's the only general we've seen to bear scars, across her face no less. So ya, I won't be too surprised if that's confirmed.

As for Maria, I agree with those who speculate that Maria had a prosthetic arm before she died. Reminds me of those warriors who'll do anything to get back into the battlefield. So, Maria opted for a limb. The second time round, she was killed and Cross worked his magic on her.

Also, Hoshino WAS specific that her English spelling was to be "Klaud" which is Latin for "the Lame one." So if you think lame, limping, prosthetic or at least a weaker leg.... it ties in perfectly. That's setting aside that she trains animals and I'm starting to think the 'burn scars' were 'animal marring' - and the fact she uses a lunge whip to control Lau Jimmin of that length, my guess is that he's such a weapon of destruction that it's often hard for her to control him, or at least in her past. I don't think she's too terribly old.

Hmmm... sounds like I can do a fanfic speculating how she became an Exorcist. Cue a young, somewhat ditzy worker at a German (not sure if Klaud or Nine is remotely German, though) zoo. Then, little Lau was part of the monkey exhibit. Somehow, it activated its Innocence and mauled a young Klaud. The Order gets wind of it and...

I think she's a corpse. I guess she has the fake arm because it's more aesthetic than being armless. She's a pretty woman after all, so this should be important for Cross her. Maybe she wore it in her life too.
About the joint... maybe her left shoulder's fake too, there's a strange line next to her neck on the second pic, and there's also one on the third, next to her arm. That may be the place where her fake part starts. In this case, this should be the wound that killed her, it looks quite deadly for me.

That's interesting. I never noticed that before. :o Thanks for pointing it out!

I think Maria is a corpse as well.

WOAH SHE DOES! You're really observant %_%

Actually it has close resemblance to the arm of a ball-joint doll (http://doll.luts.co.kr/item-img/DF_060829-5.jpg) (this brand covered the ball, but the basic construction of doll joints are like that of Maria's) I think somewhere they mentioned that she was "Cross's doll?"

Her past will certainly be interesting :>

oo, good observation. It DOES look like a ball joint right there, but it seems fully functional (from the "jazz hand" in the top left panel). Perhaps she had it before she died?

Maybe Cross just likes collecting stuff with odd left arms...

[identity profile] wirbelwind11.livejournal.com 2008-01-17 01:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Omg and Allen makes that totally OBVIOUS, Cross has a weird-left-arm-fetish :D

[identity profile] kaiamara.livejournal.com 2008-01-17 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
Never noticed that before, I figure she had it put on near the end of her life. Maybe it has something to do with Cross' control over her?

[identity profile] parcus.livejournal.com 2008-01-17 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
That is possible that Cross may a little irked by a one armed corpse and added her arm, besides I believe with a man that eccentric enough to pay attention to asthetic details, it's not that far from the truth either.
