A long time ago a friend of mine had a theory of the heart, and since all of us have our ideas, I'd love to hear who you think it is.

One theory: My friend had wondered before if the heart was Lavi (more or less hidden by the patch in his eye, as well as with the name changes and hidden identity.

Another theory: That it's Allen, especially as it seems Mana has taken a dormant residence in him, somewhat.

Another: Lenalee~~~~~

Another (which would piss everyone in the series off but delight most fans): Cross. I think it'd be hysterical if it was him just as he'd be the last person anyone would WANT to be the heart.

And an idea I had for a long time about who the heart is: Komui.
Komui knows far more about the war than he lets on. He has the extremely close bond with Lenalee, who's so powerful. He'd be someone very unexpected as he's not an exorcist. Also, with the science department, he'd be able to "create" a fake heart if need be as certainly it seems that "the heart" knows "who he is".

So... ideas?

Maybe it's just because I'm a fangirl, but I like to think the "Heart" is Miranda. My reasoning is that her Innocence is *so* unique in what it can do. Seriously, compare the Time Record to any other Innocence. All of the others are offensive weapons, while Miranda's is currently strictly defense. Not to mention when you think of the word "heart", you think of mercy, compassion, love, etc. Miranda's ability to defend goes along with that pretty well. Also, the "Heart" would probably want to be an Innocence that isn't put into immediate danger, and isn't completely obvious. While all Innocence are put in danger, Miranda's is usually defended by several others with offensive capabilities so she doesn't get killed and so they can continue to fight with no/less injuries. And then, you'd expect the "Heart" to be extremely kickass and strong, but Miranda's seems weak at first, which would make it less suspicious.

...or maybe my mind is just fabricating reasons for Miranda to deserve more screen/panel time =/

I don't think there's been any implication of Miranda having the heart, but I agree that it would be really cool. Her personality does seem to fit with the idea of the Heart and the Heart being hidden. She seems to have a lot of affection for her Innocence too, while the other Exorcists don't necessarily feel that close to theirs. Besides, it would be more interesting than Allen or Linali having it.

Maybe it's Lau Jimmin! I mean, seriously, what better twist than having a demonic monkey end up being the Heart! :D

Monkeys are the devil, clearly the monkey can't be the Heart. Obciously Miranda has the Heart! But Jasdero borrowed part of it and stuck it on his headband. All Miranda has to do is go ask for it back!

I second this nomination! It's an idea I've toyed with before, but never really thought could have serious weight (same with Crowley, who has been sadly missing from the last few chapters ;_;) About Miranda's screentime in general, I almost like that she is a back lines Excorcist who is nonetheless integral to how battles are currently fought, and that the Order recognizes this. To add on to what you've said, it was a nice touch to see the latest battle plan explicitly include orders to protect Miranda - not because she needs protection as a weak person (whatever her physical stats), but because, just as much with Allen or Cross, if they lost Miranda they lose the battle. It was a subtle twist on the most important players being at the front and center trope.

But yeah, I wish she'd get more face time in the lighter chapters, too :/

You know how Crowly used his blook to fight JasDevi? Doesn't that allready mean he's a sort of crystl type?? but maybe parisite types cant become crystle types? I duno ^^

Now I really, really want Miranda to be the Heart.
