So, I'm hoping this is the right place to go to with this question. >____>;;
I'm behind in the D.Gray-Man series because I wait until the manga hits the shelves in America. I flat out refuse to read manga online and any episode that catches enough of my interest is usually deleted off of the tubes of you. B|

That being said, I obviously don't know about Deak(Deke?)
D: Can anyone tell me anything about him? Or what volume he'll show up in?! [Hell, I'll even take a link to the chapter he first appears in! My Lavi muse is killing me over this. B|]

He's an illusion that represents all of Lavi's "personas" before he was Lavi (since he was 48 other people before Lavi!). Dick was the name of his 48th persona, as (I THINK) we see Bookman calling him that shortly before they arrive at the Order. "Dick" has been popularized as the English spelling of his name in Japan (and "Deak" by English-speakers who don't like using real names like Deke and Dick)
He comes out because of Lavi's inner struggle; he has difficulty reconciling being a Bookman, and thus an impassive observer, with being a friend to Allen and Lenalee and the others. Dick tries to kill him so that he can take over and the "flawed" 49th persona will die so that he can go back to not caring about people, but Lavi outsmarts him. In the end, Lavi realizes that all three personas (himself, Dick, and his younger self) are one, and that there's no difference between them: when Allen calls out Lavi's name, the others also want to answer him.
