Question: What is going on?
Well, I haven't read the manga for a year or maybe more (from the time Cross went missing) – sadly DGM seemed to become more and more complicated, introducing many new characters that were clearly not meant to exist from the very beginning, including a lot of fancy artifacts and generally increasing the amount of cracks in the whole plot line.
But today something hit me to read the last chapter and ... yeah, I couldn't understand a thing. So, can anyone brief me on what is going on, please? And what happened to Lavi? Where is he? And is Yuu truly dead? And who is the main enemy anyway?
I'm on the verge of losing all interest in the DGM manga, come on people, please, you have to make me try and see the reason – the light! – in what was going on recently.

There's no actual proof that Kanda is dead. If he did die, we weren't shown it. However, Hoshino has said something suggesting that Kanda's going to reappear in the story later. So chances are he didn't die, but it's anyone's guess when he'll return.
For the main enemy, you'll have to use your own judgement, though. There are a lot of different sides to the war in DGM, and most of them have their hands dirty in some way.

Thank you for the briefing.
/english skills failing right now
And the main enemy seems to be both the Order and the Earl, none of them are goody goody two shoes, the Earl wants to destroy humanity and their dogs and the Order would use any methods to win against the Earl, be it morally right or not.
Allen has left the Order thanks to Tyki's and Rhode's help, you can say that those two are the only noahs who like him and still support him, and the Apocryta thing (I mispell it in english like a pro) is actually a living innocence that wanted to destroy the noah within Allen and it involved killing him in the process.
Lavi and Bookman were abducted by the Noah. Since they are not affiliated with either side, being them neutral, they helped the Noah but because they were also coerced. It seems that in the very moment before Allen sent Kanda away, there was a panel of Chaoji screaming because something had infected him, something that weird Noah makes and can be seen dangling from his tongue (or it is his tongue, I'm not sure). That thing seems to be very dangerous and life threatening so Chaoji and Lavi can be executed with it or I understood that, that's why Bookman does also help them.
DGM has gotten weirder and weirder but I think it had to do with adapting to a monthly even plus trying to tell a lot of stuff that hadn't been told before plus Hoshino's health plus other stuff as well. Sometimes it makes no sense but two or three chapters later it finally makes sense or leaves you enough information to fill the blank or make your own ideas concerning the issues that have been taking place.
If you want to get hooked up, think of Lavi and how Hoshino promised us to tell us about his mysterious past, it has driven many fanss to stay 8D

Re: /english skills failing right now
Hahahaha, learning about Lavi's mysterious past is quite intriguing, but the headache of the new characters, I cant recognize the faces, non of them are familiar!
Re: /english skills failing right now
So do I, I cannot tell Bak and Allen apart and when Allen looks mad, or any other character, the faces remind me so much of Dragon Ball Z that it feels weird, as if a panel from another manga had been glued there or something.

Re: /english skills failing right now
I dropped DGM long ago but I might pick it up again for Lavi. Yes, just for Lavi.

Link might help if he bakes a pie.

Also he has no more purpose to live. He would be useless and I think, just be there to make the fangirls happy. It would destroy his character.
As for 'not seeing him die' I'm not trying to be a smartass here but, I think we are so used to seeing 'dead' characters revived that our very idea of 'dead' has changed.
We saw him completely shattered, lean against the wall and close his eyes. Then we saw the image of that lotus flower fade away. I think in any other genre that would be unquestionably dead. I blame Kubo.

I would be upset if he died not due fangirl issues but because he did so many things no one else did and we haven't had an explanation for them yet like why he is the only exorcist who was able to kill a noah and everyone else, Allen included, failed to do so, as well as why he seems to be the only one who switch the noah on and off with his katana.
But it was mentioned here or at exorcists' order that Hoshino clearly said he is coming back
and probably with a perm like Lila from Futurama*hugs*

I have a lot for respect for Hoshino because of the way she portrays the sadness and futility of war ( Not like where there was an 'epic war' that everyone survived) I thought she had a lot of guts to stick to that and kill of characters I think I'll lose some respect fro her if she brings any of them back.

She also talked about Kanda's future in the series (translated by saoru):
ジャンフェストークショーバレ
星野先生「神田は今後帰ってくるつもりでかきました」
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hoshino-sensei: "I drew/wrote with the intention of having Kanda come back later."
He is coming back with that perm for granted now. No beautiful death for him, just living with the grudge he couldn't save Alma at all and hold grudges or something.

And I blame not only Kubo. Hoshino revived them once when they were destroyed (downloaded/uploaded/whatever) with the Arc. Also that person, whoever it is, that is responsible for all the Naruto mess - there the characters are coming back alive like crazy, and it makes me sorry I started watching it in the first place, 5 years ago.

Pretty much:
- Bookman clan is captured
- Walking/talking Innocence attacks Allen
- ALLEN, because of his noah memories, escaped the attack and IS A FUGITIVE! ;_:
- Hoshino DID say that Yuu will come back...but he's totally..stoned?
- Tykk has been getting sexy art.

Dear Heavens. It looks like a plot of some TV series that goes on and on and on and on. One thing is reassuring - no one's got the amnesia yet... Have they?
Thanks for the brief explanation. At least Tykk has some spotlight =]

Yep, he saved Allen.

Aside from what everyone has been telling you, I think they forgot one important thing. The Innocence (Apotho-something) that attacks Allen was created to protect the Heart.

The Apo-thing (not even going to try spelling it) seems dead set on merging with him because A) it'll bury the Noah, and B) the Heart is worried about him. Since Crown Clown attacked the Apo-thing, which is supposed to guard the Heart, I think we can safely say it isn't it.
Unless of course Crown Clown really is the Heart and the Apo-guy just has gone crazy and is ignoring the Heart, at which point, yeah, I don't know anymore *throws hands up*

If Allen isn't the Heart then who is? A new character we don't know about? Lenalee? Or all of the exorcists put together? Or maybe Allen and Lenalee put together? ...
yes, I think they are a cute couple.no subject
Could be a new character. Could be someone we've never seen before.
Personally, I'm leaning more towards Komui, but that's just my own theory.
I've seen that Allen/Lenalee theory before, and I wouldn't mind it, except that it appears to have no real basis, especially since Apo-guy come along and shown us that they're innocence aren't the only sentient ones.

And that Apo-guy could have gone all crazy-like, acting impulsively and without reason.

As for why I think it's Komui, please bear with me, this might be kinda long:
Well, he sensed when Lenalee was almost killed during her fight with Eshi, despite him being hundreds of miles away: Here (http://www.mangareader.net/210-15159-14/dgray-man/chapter-68.html)
And later when Allen surpassed critical point, Helraska never said who the critical person was but Komui knew it was Allen: here (http://www.mangareader.net/210-15207-14/dgray-man/chapter-116.html). (I know Reever guessed that maybe it was Allen, but Komui seemed to instinctively know.)
Also, during the Zombie arc, when all seems lost and Komui is pined we get this (http://www.mangareader.net/210-15255-7/dgray-man/chapter-164.html/). Now, I know he said he read all the records, but to be able to remember perfectly all those names, in a moment of huge stress, it's a suspicious if not superhuman ability.
Plus, among the exorcists, Komui is the closest thing they have to a leader. Forget the Pope, forget Rouvelier, Komui is the ome all the exorcists take orders from, rather like the Heart is the supposed leader of the Innocence. Komui is also the one who sees all the reports, comes in contact with every piece of Innocence that arrives at the Black Order, is in charge of repairing the Innocence and forging all new anti-Akuma weapons.
One other thing I've theorised recently: Lenalee's Innocence seems to be of a similar level of sentience to Apo-thing and seems to be constantly evolving (Crystal type). It's possible that this evolution means she's becoming another Apocryphos, in other words a protector of the Heart. Think about it; who, in all the world, whatever the cost, will Lenalee do anything to protect: her brother Komui.
Anyway, this is really all just theory. We have no way of knowing till Hoshino finally reveals it's identity.

After all I hardly think that the Hart would be related to somebody, who wasn't introduced back then when it was first mentioned, or at least I hope that would be the case, for having a random savior jump in at the right moment would be just too lame. And if the Heart belongs to only one person, well, Komui is indeed trying to protect everyone, and in turn was protected by everyone when the order was attacked, some people even sacrificing their lives. And Lenalee's innocence would fit in the idea...
But if it is indeed that way, I think sadly Komui would have to sacrifice his life in the end... Which in turn would make the sad ending Hoshino wanted (I've read it somewhere in the links this post is overwhelmed with), oh, sad indeed, for I love that man. *sigh*

Yeah, pretty much agree with everything you said there. I mean Hoshino could introduce someone completely new, but I have more faith in her storytelling than that (unles she pulled it off really really well)
I mean, even look at Apo-thing; people have been complaining that she pulled him out of nowhere, when in reality she didn't. His presence, or at least the exostence of someone very powerful and hidden in Central, was implied nearly fifty chapters ago. I'm sure the Heart won't just appear out of nowhere and will have some connection with the past storyline.
Ahhh, don't make me think about the ending. I have no idea what is going to happen, but I'm sure I'll be in tears. I keep hoping it will be a happy ending, but I know it won't. Just about everyone is in danger of dying (except maybe Lavi, what with him beong future Bookman and all, but even that's a guarantee).

Heck, I don't even know why I bother lurking in this community, but I really like the series and I just don't want to abandon it. DD: I want to get caught up, I stopped at around chapter 200, I just haven't had the drive to!
....because I really wanna see Miranda come back. :[
