Cosplay Question
Jun. 13th, 2009 07:19 pmnice-babana.livejournal.comDoes anyone know where I might be able to buy the red version of the uniform buttons (in bulk, preferably)? A friend and I are doing Lavi and Lenalee's third uniforms for Otakon, and the buttons are really giving us trouble.
I'm aware Cosmint sells them in sets of eight, but their prices are pretty steep and buying them through a Japanese-speaking third party will set me back well over $100 for the amount of buttons we need.
I also wouldn't be opposed to just buying a bunch of the standard silver and painting them myself, but the only place I've found them for sale in sets of more than two is, alas, Cosmint. (And yes, I've checked Ebay.)
Can anyone help? :3

Does anyone approximately know when D.Gray-Man's timeline is situated? I know it is during the 19th century, rather at the end but... I would need a little bit more precise year (and I think it can be seen on Mana's grave, for his birth but I am not sure and do not remember when it appears...

but before when allen was a kid (taken in by Mana)
He had brown hair O_O
if u go back in the anime episode 7 i believe he has brown hair
but now its pure white?
like did his curse do that? or like what happened
hahah and anyone know his height?
i saw that rinali was 166cm and he is taller then so i was guessing
like 170 ish???
....along with ..anyone know any good tutorials on how to color manga
ive been wanting to learn forever D:
but yeah im very troubled by this

DGM anime fan: should I read the manga?

Then a week ago I decided to read the manga but I only started reading from where the anime left off (midway through vol 16). And now I'm wondering, should go back and read the manga from the beginning?
I mean, am I missing anything important that isn't shown in the anime? D:

I would like to introduce DGM to my younger brother but he watches only the Bleach and I would say he is a bit prejudiced against other animes. I'm absolutely sure that he will drop it if I'll show him the manga or the anime from the beginning - it happened the same way with Bleach, then I showed him one of the kickass battle scenes and he started watching it and now he is obsessed with it.
I'm thinking about pulling this trick again but I'm not sure which battle would you recommend ... My favourite battle is Kanda vs Skinn, but there are lot of flashes into the past, I don't think he would grasp it without knowing what's going on.

About more Gray Ark translations
Apr. 14th, 2009 10:35 pmyamamoto-kou.livejournal.comSorry for bringing up an old topic, but I was wondering whether the talks with Hoshino and her editors in the book had been translated anywhere. If not, I'd like to try and maybe do a rough summary of it and type up a transcript (so that pro translators can correct me). There's some stuff that would officially answer some of the more trivial questions of DGM like the origin of the title 'D.Gray-man' and why each chapter is called 'The ~th Night'. Some relavant tidbits are probably buried in there too... maybe.
I might also throw in a couple of notes from other untranslated sections, like the comments next to the characters earlier drafts. One of little facts I found there was that Hoshino didn't decide until sometime before chapter 156 that Kanda wears 'Asian-ish' clothing(< 184 spoiler!) for casual wear. (This was why I picked up my fanbook again XD)
I should warn you that my Japanese is really iffy most of the time (especially grammar wise) so yeah... Is there any such thing as more Gray Ark translations out there?
I'll get started on this later~

Ok, so my question to you all is that if you were in the Dark Order Headquarters (the old one), and assuming it's your first day there, what would you do? Go sneaking around the place into Komui's off-limit rooms? Tinker with some chemicals in the science department?
I'm asking because I'm writing a fanfic (I'm not gonna say about what just yet ;D), and I have my own ideas about what it's like. I'm just curious to see what everyone would do haha.

I just recieved my copies of the Gray Ark fanbook, 'Douke no Seiga' (the anime artbook), and 'D.Gray-man Kenkiyuukai' ('The Secrets of D.Gray-man') a few days ago. I've scanned the artbook, and am in the process of scanning the entire fanbook.
My question is if anyone is interested in seeing scans of 'D.Gray-man Kenkiyuukai'? It's only text, and I bought it without having any idea what it was. ("Free shipping if you buy more crap!" was what YesAsia told me.) It appears to be little bits of info on the characters and series, but I can't be sure, since I can't read anything beyond names.
If I scanned it, would anyone be willing to translate it?
